He's trying to incite violence and insurrection against a state government. Isn't that a form of treason?

The phrase "woke left ideologies" used unironically in a $300 textbook is wild. Are there any courses that actually set this as a required reading?

Between this and the cancellation of the partnership with CDC the other day, if Firmus does go ahead with its $11 IPO, I could see it being the first major domino to fall in the impending AI bust. The founders might be keen to cash out ASAP before that happens. But yeah nah AI is the future.

This company is caught up in the circular financing of it all. NVIDIA has invested AUD$720m in Firmus in previous funding rounds; it also has an agreement to supply Firmus with chips. The founders are on the hook for a $14b loan to Blackstone and need to keep half of their shares until it's paid.

Major share market float of Firmus in trouble as interest wanes
The company is reportedly having to price its shares lower as it closed its books to potential investors abruptly overnight.

It was the mixed metaphors bordering on word salad for me, plus some of the things you listed. Either he's just an incoherent writer in general, or partially/wholly used AI in my opinion. It's a coin toss though.

Unfortunately even if you, my adoring public, wanted me to become Greens leader, you would have no say in that! Members don't even have a say in that. So I'm joining the call to change the Australian Greens constitution so that I may be elected as its next leader. Authorised by me, level 99 Rogue

After giving it some serious thought, I've decided to also put my hands up to become the leader of the Australian Greens. Am I a sitting Greens MP? No. I'm not even eligible to sit in federal Parliament; but I think that's a strength. Who better to speak truth to power than someone with no power?

I’m backing Cassian Andor and Leia Organa for co-leadership of the Australian Greens. They bring the right mix of insurgency and establishment to appeal to a large cross-section of voters across the galaxy at a moment like this. Plus, gender balance is crucial.

When I receive a rent increase the only thing I'm thinking is "can I pay this amount and still keep the lights on?" I have lived in my current rental for nearly five years, and in that time my rent has gone from $380/w to $430/w and I consider myself lucky.

"If you own one property... you might want to put the rent up when your interest rate goes up if you've got a mortgage, but you're competing with all the other properties that are available". You're also competing with the threat of homelessness.

Dash Nehring @punningstunts.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
No state limits how much rent can be raised by. The only jurisdiction that does is the ACT. There are limits on how often rent can be increased in most states. The ABC Quotes an Economist who demonstrates a complete detachment from reality.

Dash Nehring @punningstunts.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
The ABC analysis on how interest rates will impact renters is woeful: "Some landlords may try to offset the impact of rate rises on their cash flow by raising rents over time, although there are constraints on how often and how much rent can be increased each year in most states." This is wrong.
abc.net.au
The RBA just raised rates. It affects more than your home loan
While the RBA's decisions are most felt through mortgage repayments, their impact extends well beyond home loans.

I went and made this for ya, it was too good a meme
meme featuring three panels. the top panel is a picture of a headline over Jason from the Good Place. The headline says "AI could be a bubble and is not yet making Australia more productive, Michele Bullock Says".

Underneath is a caption: "I think AI might be a bubble".

The second panel is Michael with a shocked expresson standing next to Janet. He says "The RBA figured it out? the RBA?"

The third panel is Michael touching his stomach. He says "This is a real low point. Yeah, this one hurts."

Instead of building homes, public transport, renewable infrastructure, those workers are building data centres.

Construction workforce must double within two years to build major projects
A record pipeline of infrastructure projects will require more workers and a more efficient building sector, according to the peak federal government agency.

The construction sector already has a massive shortfall of labour, set to hit 300,000 by the middle of 2027 according to Infrastructure Australia. Data centre construction jobs are framed as new opportunities for our economy; instead they represent an opportunity cost.

Dash Nehring @punningstunts.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
There's a part in the report about job creation: "Industry estimates suggest that data centre construction has directly and indirectly supported more than 9,000 jobs to date and this could grow by an additional 18,930 jobs through to 2030". except 2/3 of those jobs are in the buildout phase.
a chart showing the jobs created by data centre construction. it shows 4,190 direct and 4,940 indirect jobs from data centre construction. of these, 2980 direct and 3690 indirect jobs are attributed to build out.

Stafford Beer puts it best. "The purpose of a system is what it does. There is no point in claiming that the purpose of a system is to do what it constantly fails to do". Our unemployment system is supposed to be a safety net that supports people to find jobs. In reality, it is a misery farm.

According to the AIHW, in the 22-64 age group, people on income support payments accounted for around 3 in 7 (43%) people who died due to suicide. Even if you ignore the physical health impacts of poverty, our below-poverty payments and punitive mutual obligations systems are killing people.

IDK why people are so shocked about corruption on infrastructure builds; it was literally the subject of a Utopia episode. Season 3 Episode 6: Snouts In The Trough. That episode also features the shocking revelation hat governments could run the builds themselves far more efficiently.
