Hello Womble! I’ve been listlessly poking at my TBR stack for more than 24 hours, doubtful that anything could compare to When There are Wolves Again by E.J. Swift, which I finished Saturday morning. So good!

Hello Womble! I’m on a roll with five star reads lately. This week I finished T. Kingfisher’s Hemlock & Silver, as well as Psychopomp & Circumstance by Eden Royce. Today I’m finishing Lois McMaster Bujold’s new Penric novella Darksight Dare. All excellent stuff!

Sunday sounds. Even better than Volume One. Math rock meets jazz skronk meets prog noodling. Exhilarating!

I followed that up with The Night Guest by Hildur Knútsdóttir, which was also fantastic! Delightfully weird and creepy. My first from her. Looking forward to more.

Cheers Womble! Hope you’re well. This week I finished up reading Aliette de Bodard’s Dominion of the Fallen series which was great! Hoping there might be more Thuan and Asmodeus at some point.

Covers of the 3 main Fallen books, some shorter fiction, and the 2 Dragons and Blades novellas.
Note that the Wars, Memories, and Starlight collection also includes Xuya shorts and others.

I’ve been banging on about Notes From a Regicide by @isaac-fellman.bsky.social to anyone who’ll listen. Gorgeous.

Tried to list my top 10 books this year out of 107 read. Ended up with 12 which I’m fine with, since the Emrys and Cherryh are stories told in a pair of books. Unsurprisingly it seems this year I was drawn to hopeful tales, or at least ones where folks come together to get through difficult times.

Covers of my top 12 books this year.
Notes From a Regicide by Isaac Fellman
Clear by Carys Davies
The First Thousand Trees by Premee Mohamed
The Practice, the Horizon, and the Chain by Sofia Samatar
Alliance Rising and Alliance Unbound by CJ Cherryh and Jane Fancher
Winter Tide and Deep Roots by Ruthanna Emrys
The Birthday of the World by Ursula K. Le Guin
Farthing by Jo Walton
Snake-Eater by T. Kingfisher
Testimony of Mute Things by Lois McMaster Bujold

Hullo Womble! Just finished Bujold’s latest Penric & Desdemona which was excellent. Now I’m 30 pages in to Isaac Fellman’s Notes From a Regicide and thoroughly hooked.

Yep, I read them as they came out and do occasional rereads. If you haven’t read her most recent Alliance books in the same universe, they are fabulous.
