A new acquisition for the collection @wiltshiremuseum.bsky.social I didn't search for Tom and Jerry at Stonehenge in the database though, so perhaps there is already a collection of phone cards in Devizes...

The obvious question that arises about Thomas Creswick's 'Landscape with artist resting beside a road' aound 1851, is what did the artist have in his sandwich that left his dog so disinterested?

In 1942, Swindon based sports reporter, journalist and preacher William Charles Bramwell Hill (1897-1963) wrote ‘Wiltshire - A Cameo.’ Reprinted on postcards and accompanied by two of Bramwell Hill’s drawings – Salisbury Cathedral and Stonehenge ‘as it was probably built’ - it was sent to the King

Some things I wish I had known when I was a new writer: Being accepted by traditional publishers has less to do with skill than whether they think they can sell it. Just because publishers aren’t ready for a story doesn’t mean readers aren’t. Writing the book is the easy part. 🧵

The Modernisation of Wiltshire Museum; Chatting with Amber
Okay, that's enough now! The social media presence of Wiltshire Museum in Devizes has shot from zero to hero. Vlogs of staff dancing in period clothing, creating street art, and generally enjoying themselves far too much! When did working at a museum look so much fun, unless you're Ben Stiller?!  This all came to an apex during carnival, which saw them brazenly parading Long Street dressed as Stonehenge's sarsens and lintels!

William Scrope's early 19th century painting of Cherhill, Wiltshire. Apparently an example of an amateur artist paying a professional artist to add human figures to their landscape.
