Personally I think it's neat that Ikea's delivery notification email has an empty Contact Us section and when they completely ghost your delivery there is no easy way to rectify the situation. And that the Contact Us link does not work. Really wonderful enshitification strategy here

Daily reminder that GDscript supports the Sumerian clay table alphabet, Akkadian cuneiform of ancient Mesopotamia. This is perfectly valid code you can write in your game:

"executives with no understanding of the industry" seems to be an endemic problem across industries: higher education, medicine, you name it, a bunch of suits with MBAs and unearned arrogance are destroying everything around us, and for some reason, we're supposed to accept that they know best

Tried looking up how much I spent on 16 GB of RAM for my router build just over a year ago to see if I could transplant it into the Steam Machine and it was like looking at menu prices at a diner from the 1940s.
An order showing 16 gigs of laptop ram costing 41.99

Get freshly made stroopwafel, not pre-packaged. Anywhere you see them making it fresh is worth going in and trying. The Our Lord in the Attic Museum was a surprising highlight; basically a clandestine catholic chapel someone built in the top 3 floors of their house in the 1660s

If you see Stamppot on a menu, it's just Mashed Potatoes with stuff mixed in. It's good, but it's mashed potatoes with stuff mixed in. Wentelteefje is like god-tier french toast desert. Stay in the museum quarter or De Pijp if you can.

Proeflokaal A. van Wees was a solid restaurant if you're interested in Genever (effectively Dutch Gin). The Dutch Resistance Museum (Verzetsmuseum) was really great, but a bit harrowing (compliment). Vondelpark is dutch High Park, so absolutely worth taking a ride through.

Today, April 7, 2026, humans inexplicably stop aging, dying and being born (17776 or What Football Will Look Like in the Future by Jon Bois, 2017)
A conversation. 1: How long has it been like this? 2: On April 7th, 2026, people stopped being born. On the same day, people stopped dying, and people stopped aging. 3: Ham cheese. ham cracker. cheese cracker. ham and cheese cracker. ham and cheese. 1: Why? 2: We don't know. Nobody knows.

Been thinking more about this. The issue isn't stacking puzzles, it's that it gives you a puzzle/problem to solve to get to a door, but then the door is locked, and you get nothing from solving layer 1 of the puzzle. At least let me in the damn door to reveal the next layer.

Nigel @pseudohausen.bsky.social · 29/03/2026
Yeah there's a lot of RNG manipulation that just feels inappropriate for the kinds of mystery and problem solving the game wants to support. Also a lot of puzzle solutions end up with rewards that boil down to "jk solve another puzzle I haven't told you about first pls"

Write docs for developers, any docs that the developers don't understand were not written well enough for the developers and need to be re-written. Writing documentation isn't some act of pointless self-flagellation, it's technical writing for a specific audience.

I'm not going to sit here and pretend that LLMs don't have use cases, but using it to "actually understand the game design documentation" is not going to be one of them

lol. lmao, even
"We're seeing teams not only using AI to generate these ideas, these thousands and thousands of ideas, but actually they're using AI as a curation machine to actually understand the game design documentation, to understand the art bible and art style, and go into all of these objects that are being created, both by humans and AI, and surface the stuff that’s the most relevant for the game design [...] saving thousands of hours in pre-production."

perennial reminder that this typographic thing: * * * is called a "dinkus" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dinkus
Wikipedia entry for dinkus

In typography, a dinkus is a typographic device or convention that typically consists of three spaced asterisks or bullet symbols in a horizontal row, e.g.   ∗ ∗ ∗   or   • • •  . The device has a variety of uses, and it usually denotes an intentional omission or a logical "break" of varying degree in a written work. This latter use is similar to a subsection, and it indicates that the subsequent text should be re-contextualized. Such a dinkus typically appears centrally aligned on a line of its own with vertical spacing before and after the device. The dinkus has been in use in various forms since c. 1850.[1][2] Historically, the dinkus was often represented as an asterism, ⁂, though this has fallen out of favor and is now nearly obsolete.
