Hello #skywriters! I decided to #selfpublish my #childrensbook based on this octopus 🐙I used to take care of, Ollie the Octopus. It's a #chapterbook in which Ollie talks to different #oceananimals about their lives & pressing issues they face. I'd love to be in touch with other #indieauthors!

As the oceans continue to warm, many fish are heading to colder waters--by 2050 it is estimated fish catches in the Arctic will be up by 30%, but down by half around West Africa, SE Asia and the Pacific Islands. Stats from What the Wild Sea Can Be by @helenscales Photo by Annie Spratt on Unsplash

Wishing that the new year brings you as much joy as this picture of Ruby chomping on ice. 🦦🧊 Sea otters are one of the few marine mammals that can drink seawater—thanks to their otterly impressive kidneys, which filter out excess salt! Still, most of their hydration comes from the food they eat.

🧪 A new species of pygmy squid was named Kodama jujutsu because of how it grapples shrimp prey link.springer.com/article/10.1... 🥋 I told a friend who competes in Brazilian jiu jitsu, and she told me about a real move called "squid guard" evolve-mma.com/blog/what-is... 🎨 I had to draw it.
On a black background, an orange-brown pygmy squid and a blue-green shrimp grapple and glare at each other. The shrimp is wearing a white gi with a black and red striped belt. The squid is naked except for its chromatophores, and it grips the shrimp's gi lapel in a complex move, also using its plethora of arms to grip several of the shrimp's legs and the gi collar. The squid has skin tags behind its eyes and a protrusion on the tip of its mantle. The text reads "Kodama jujutsu performs Squid Guard."
