Something remarkable is happening: James Talarico is running an expansively pro-immigrant campaign in Texas, a state Trump won by 14 points, speaking in Biblical terms about our duty to "the stranger." And it's resonating. That's seismic. 1/ (new piece) newrepublic.com/article/2160...

In Texas, Something Seismic Is Happening—and It’s All Trump’s Fault
Thanks to the economy and ICE, Trump has lost Texas Latinos. And James Talarico is developing a humane pro-immigrant message that’s resonating—even in this ultra-Trumpy state.

The fallacy that University leaders pushing AI are falling into is thinking that the point of undergraduate research is to find things out. It isn't. What students find out is typically already generally known. The point of undergraduate research is to learn how to find things out.

I think higher education has kind of the same issue right now as social care: the current systems are set up for a far smaller part of the population to need them than currently do. And in both cases I really think the change has been a huge benefit to society, we just need to fund it sustainably.

Technology is the spinal cord of everything... including your kid's school.
Schools globally have outsourced their operational backbone. The Canvas hack just made what has long been an invisible dependency visible.

Where is the lie? But also, people like to think they are special, and what they are going through is special, and if there is anything historians can establish with tedious frequency it is that no, none of us are special and historical precedent echoes and coughs its way through the decades.
