The Trump administration says none of this is happening.

"DHS is NOT arresting U.S. citizens by mistake." "There are no 'indiscriminate' stops." Allegations of "racial profiling are disgusting, reckless and categorically FALSE." "The pattern is NOT of law enforcement using force." "ICE does not zip tie or restrain children."

We watched the first 2 episodes. The set is impressive, but I'm finding the show disturbing. Roald Dahl's book gleefully punished naughty kids, but this show requires strategic plans that value the opposite of Charlie's ethics. This is Big Brother in a Wonka wrapper, which I find disturbing.

I have found DuckDuckGo useful for old-school web searches. It automatically blocks cookies, and you can select AI mode if you want, but the default is a classic web search. There are also many videos sharing how to set Google to web mode (non AI).

Class of '87 here! During our Senior year of HS, my girlfriend (and later wife) both worked part time and paid for our APs. Friday night dates were Plaza Inn and fireworks at DL. Tickets were $20 ($60 today) and the annual pass was $135 (or $398 today). The 1987 Star Tours preview party was $25.

This seems like a pretty big deal: donors made illegal contributions to Susan Collins and then were awarded lucrative contracts after her office intervened with the Navy. An FBI investigation was dropped under Trump. www.propublica.org/article/fbi-...

To skirt campaign finance laws and conceal the source of the funds, Navatek planned to funnel the donation through a shell company. The CEO wanted assurance that Collins would know where
the money came from. Reed confirmed that she would, the executive said - and that Navatek would get its government contracts.
After the Corner Bakery meeting, Navatek's CEO, Martin Kao, sent an initial $150,000 to the Collins super PAC using the shell company. Two months later, he told Navatek executives that Collins committed to getting the company $32 million in naval contracts, according to an internal company email reviewed by ProPublica.
