Latest data from the Australian Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, show that Only 13% of people aged 75 and over are up to date with their booster. We need our governments, GPs and pharmacists working to improve this dire situation.

Adelaide Aquatic Centre closures look like a precautionary response, not an outbreak. Parasites such as Cryptosporidium are uncommon, chlorine-resistant, and well known to pool managers. Temporary closures and deep cleaning are standard practice. Risk remains low. Public health working as intended.

COVID notifications in South Australia are very low for summer. Why? Short answer: this says more about surveillance than about the virus disappearing.

Yet another big jump in COVID-19 notifications in South Australia - the 5th week in a row. If you are over 65, please consider getting a booster shot if you are not up to date.

As we end 2024, we are in a summer wave of COVID-19, with more than 50% of samples due to XEC. December data are incomplete, so numbers will keep increasing, especially after Xmas and New Year. I would like to take the opportunity to wish all of my followers a healthy, safe and happy New Year.

COVID notifications in South Australia have jumped again from 306 last week to 354. The %positive PCR tests has gone up from 9.1% to 10.8%, the highest it's been since June. I went to A Night at the Opera at the Town Hall Wednesday night - only myself and a handful of other people wearing facemasks!
