So the plan is to spend millions (billions?) to put satellites into low earth orbit that contain server hardware that can only run for 15 minute bursts and can never be recovered, recycled, or repurposed? Forgiving these dipshits would be a massive moral failing.

Once commissioned, the satellite will fire up its TPU in 15-minute bursts to avoid straining the satellite’s power and thermal management systems. This satellite is based on a standard platform built by Planet Labs, but the two companies are working on a demo expected to take flight next year that will see two satellites more purpose-built for advanced compute. Those future versions will attempt to collaborate via a laser communications link.

The good news, at least, in Google’s updated research, is that it seems likely that its chips will survive the radiation of space. The company had to redo tests blasting the chips in a particle accelerator after they realized the configuration of the chips provided more shielding than they would actually experience. This produced slightly more errors in the chip’s logic circuitry, but the company is still confident its chips can handle large inference workloads in orbit for the five-year lifespan of a satellite.

This AI stuff is just so... middle management brained. You get to micromanage your non-existent secretary because your time is just valuable enough to skip waiting on hold for a minute but not so valuable that you don't need to review the transcript or be ready to jump in to take over.

In addition, Google says users will be able to follow the call as it happens and take over at any time. “Call for Me” will also use your own personal phone number to make calls, which will be dialed directly from your phone.

Google says the AI can handle complex tasks, like calling a store to ask if a product is in stock, making a restaurant reservation, moving a scheduled appointment to a different date, or placing items on hold.

The AI can call a business and introduce itself, navigate automated phone menus, wait on hold, and then handle the conversation on the other end. Meanwhile, users can watch how the call proceeds via a live transcript of the conversation.

It does have it's own package REPOSITORY but the vast majority of them are... just copied directly from the Arch User Repository (which is exactly what you use on bog standard Arch). 5/9

A screenshot of the Omarchy package repository. The latest commit message (what was most recently done to that particular package) says that was automatically synchronized with the AUR (Arch User Repository).
