It's called film "footage" because camera operators initially held the cameras with their feet. I had a related problem the other way lately when I tried to acquire work boots. Three stores and none in women's, and men's vs women's sizing here means the smallest boots they sold were fully three sizes too large. I fit bigger boys' sizes, but nothing mid-sized lights up. Lose-lose. 😔

So Netflix is using "AI" to upscale old movies and shows, with obvious results. Using an algorithm to upscale old video isn't a terrible thing, but to do it right you need to have someone willing to go over every frame. Trouble is, dipshits think it's magic.
