There is a book about medieval mss. making put out by the Getty called _Marguerite Makes a Book_ by Bruce Robertson & Kathryn Hewitt. A student told me about it and it's good on things like color and has a young girl protagonist.

An MLA cmt some 15 yrs ago (Greenblatt was prez?) made this rec for our field. It also said that the Tier 1s had to lead the way in changing the culture on this req. It fell on deaf ears. So we let the "market" impose the pain/change...All too typical.

All fiction titles from the English Catalogue, Volume 4 have now been added! That means 1862–1889 are complete. Next up: the 1890s... • 27,471 title entries • 6,770 author entries (most with bios) Big thank you to my students from last semester who assisted me to this milestone.

Social media post by Sam Shopp captioned about their “most prized possession” — a used copy of Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë defaced so that every mention of “Jane” is crossed out and replaced with “Spiderman” or “Spidey.” The left image shows the book’s cover, a Barnes & Noble Classics edition, with the title altered to read “SPIDER-MAN” and a Spider-Man sticker placed over the original cover artwork. The right image shows an interior page (the deathbed scene with Helen) where “Jane” has been handwritten over with “Spidey” throughout

[Beinart] says (paraphrasing): "we criticize Palestinians for using violence & not resisting non-violently. But when they do -- BDS -- we nix it as discriminatory." Such framing is more deft, to my mind, & doesn't require the many explications -- including Sarah Schulman's excellent take on FB).
