Got my second spooky one shot done, checked in on my character comms (they’re looking so good!!), and got maybe a third through my ‘audit’ of fics doc. Didn’t get to refreshing the book outlines and need to finish that audit. But first, Halloween decorating at last today!

“You shut up.” Sean grabbed the taller man’s collar, forcing him to lean in closer.
Suna giggled and they froze, turning back to her. The warmth of her amusement burst over their faces, along with their own embarrassment, as they straightened up quickly.
“I heard a mermaid’s kiss can save you from drowning.” Sean almost groaned at Mac’s cheesy flirting. But Suna kept smiling at them. As long as she kept smiling, he’d support anything Mac blurted.
“Is that so? Are you drowning?” Suna teased.
“I really think we might be,” Sean replied.
“I will jump in this lake right now,” Mac said at the same time.
Suna laughed. She laughed a bright, sharp series of laughs that broadened her whole face.

"Dragon" - Fae/Witch AU. Kori goes by Nyx (you don't give your real name to the fae 👀) and keeping Kori's nickname for Aria, 'Sparkles.' Aria made a deal that her first-born would be Kori's in exchange for the witch's (reluctant) help. Fairly ambiguous wording there. 🧚‍♀️ #WriteSky #WIPSnips #FantasyAU

The florist offered Sparkles a large blooming red flower.
Sparkles shook her head after recovering from obvious surprise.
Kori felt her feet moving without her control as the florist smiled broader and leaned closer.
“Come on, princess.” She put her arm around the fairy’s shoulders, smirking as the florist’s smile fell. Sparkles sighed and settled into her side. She smiled and nodded up at Kori.
“I follow you, moonbeam.” Despite sounding shaky with nerves, the fairy’s words were purposeful; Kori felt her tense as her wide green eyes watched for her reaction and, obligingly, heat rose up her neck right to her earlobes. She tightened her hold, nodded once to the flustered florist, and steered the fairy away to a quiet alcove.
“You alright?” Kori pressed her forehead to the blonde’s, thumbs rubbing circles against her cloaked shoulders. The blonde nodded, smiling and even bouncing a little. The witch didn’t bother suppressing a chuckle. “Silly sweeting.”
“Pretty moonbeam,” the fairy retorted. Kori’s face burned and she forced a scoff. Sparkles giggled at her victory. Grabbing the blonde’s freckled hands, the witch shoved what she’d bought from the weaponry stall to her.
“Here. Dragonhide. Use that when you cook,” Kori ordered, almost following up with another scolding for how long the fairy used the iron pan without saying anything until she noticed how those green eyes started to water. Arms were tossed around her shoulders and the fairy hid her sniffles in the crook of her pale neck.
“Oh, Nyx, thank you!” It took another moment and Sparkles squeezing her tighter for Kori to move again. Her arms tentatively slid around the fairy’s waist, hugging her closer, and she pressed a kiss to her soft wavy blonde hair. A happy whisper floated through the tender moment. “I’m glad I’m doing good.”

My Core 4 dormmed together in uni and stayed close. Kori and Kate live together, and Aria moved in with Suna before moving in with her boyfriend later. When that went to shit, Suna already had another roommate so Aria now has her own cute lil studio apartment.

Myself 💯 After a dry spell of nearly ten years, these lingering characters broke through some wall in my brain after 2025 EOY burnout and breakdown, and I’ve barely stopped since. Honestly such a relief to be writing again that I’m just letting myself have fun with it.

Feeling good, first spooky season one-shot 👻 very much a quickie but had to throw them all into a fairground haunted house and see what came out. Sort of one-step-canon-adjacent AU. Starting with Daryl/Billy... (Part 1/4) #WriteSky #original #oneshot cw: queer af, mentions of jumpscares (very mild)

AUish Core 4/Band: Haunted House Shenanigans
Daryl rolled his eyes as the badly painted door creaked open in front of him. Billy followed closely as he strode through the door. The fake mad scientist lab was actually kind of cool; he glanced over some of the bubbling beakers, took the time to read some of the random monster science notes strewn over the desk, and momentarily considered trying to drink the bright green liquid bottled on a side table. Billy’s hand sliding around his waist was distracting enough for them to steer them toward the next door instead.
This one didn’t creak and led to a disappointing torture chamber. Was this really supposed to be a haunted house or–?
A sharp shriek rang out as some guy in a medieval something costume jumped out, waving a fake hot poker and a plastic steel mace.
“Jesus fuck!” Daryl jumped backward against Billy, narrowly avoiding a precarious torture device the scare actor was probably aiming for.
The actor kept shrieking in Daryl’s face until Billy shoved forward. Their hands were in fists and panic flared in Daryl’s gut. He grabbed their arm, yanked back, staggered against some other poorly stabilized device, and watched as it toppled over.
With that distraction for the scare actor, Daryl shoved Billy through the next door. Black curtains fluttered around them in a semi-dark room. A dim red bulb hiding somewhere across the room was the only light. Hot hands grabbed his hips and shoved him through a few musty curtains.
“What the fuck?” His back hit a wall and Billy’s soft chuckle puffed over his face. “B!”
“Better be quiet, kitten,” they murmured, lips ghosting over his ear and down his jaw. Daryl bit his lip, stifling a desperate moan, and felt himself melting as Billy kissed down his throat. He tried to roll his hips against them but their grip on his hips tightened. “Naughty.”
“You shoved me in this corner,” Daryl argued, squirming, only for Billy’s searing kiss to drive any remaining arguments from his mind.

The gross asphalt of the alleyway kept blurring in and out of focus. Sean rubbed the tears out of his eyes for the millionth time, wincing as he pressed against the bruise forming on his cheek. He knew his lip was split again too. There was no hiding everything from his mom as clumsiness this time. He sighed and let his head fall slowly back against the brick wall of the convenience store behind him. Stretching, letting himself relax and breathe, a sharp pain in his side made him yelp.
“Hello?” A concerned voice carried down the alley. Sean pulled his legs back, he didn’t speak, and he held his breath. Footsteps approached around the recycle dumpster. “Are you okay?”
Sean’s deep blue eyes met wide worried hazel eyes. Usually smiling thin lips were contorted in a confused frown. Soft-looking brown hair, usually pulled back, reached denim-clad shoulders.
Mac. Sean blinked up at the boy who sat across the room in his English class and two seats over in band class. He always seemed nice, endearingly blunt, laughing easily with friends – Sean hated being the reason he stopped smiling.
“I’m fine.”
Please stay.
“Don’t worry about it.”
Don’t go.
“Somebody hurt you,” Mac replied and crouched down beside him. Sean shrank against the wall as the boy looked over his face, eyes lingering over his split lip and his cheek. Rough fingers brushed the purpling mark on his cheekbone, only for a second. Sean felt his face warming and he knew Mac noticed; the corner of his lips twitched as if tempted to smile. “You’re too pretty to cry.”
“Okay.” The word escaped with his shocked exhale.
“I’m walking you home.” Mac stood and held his hand out. Sean hesitated but took it, barely stifling a gasp as he was gently pulled to his feet.

Now that big all-consuming commercial shoot is done, I'm planning my next writing priorities and October writing ideas. I have 2 Halloween one-shots I've been holding on for ages, might do one this week and post a snippet. I'm already starting down the rabbit hole on costumes for each character lol.

I posted some of D&B's spiciness a few days ago, but this is their beginning. Billy had become a regular at Orbit Nook, where Daryl and Kori both work as baristas part-time. #SundaySnips #WriteSky (and banana spice or gingerbread > pumpkin spice lol)

“Your grunge himbo is back,” Kori muttered, finishing out a white mocha. Daryl grunted and kept working on the two pumpkin spice lattes in front of him. Kori could tease all she wanted, he wasn’t that into the guy. “Ooh, his hair is down, damn.”
Daryl’s head snapped up, ignoring Kori’s snort. He looked toward the register.
The himbo’s glorious loose brown curls cascaded over his strong tapered flannel-clad shoulders, and Daryl really wanted to know how that hair would feel clutched in his fingers. He smiled as he ordered, a big broad sunshine smile, and adjusted the guitar strap over his shoulders as he walked around to wait by the counter. He gave a small wave when he noticed Daryl watching him.
Daryl scoffed and turned back to the pumpkin spice lattes.
Kori shoved the himbo’s order to Daryl, and muttered, “Maybe you could actually say two words to the guy this time.”
“Shut up,” he grumbled and started on the order, letting Kori take over on the others. It was the same thing every time, he knew it by heart. Which was normal with regulars, not at all indicative of anything else. And it was definitely normal to spend extra time on making cool music note foam art on top.
“Billy,” Daryl said, putting the drink down in front of him. His heart definitely did not tug at Billy’s wide-eyed impressed reaction to the foam art.
“Woah!” the himbo said, looking back up at Daryl with awe. Daryl’s eyes avoided his, crossing his arms as he looked the man over. He read over the various patches on the flannel – a rainbow flag, ‘punks respect pronouns,’ ‘break the binary,’ Black Sabbath, David Bowie, and Green Day patches were haphazardly affixed across the front of the shirt.
He realized that they were staring at each other and his breath caught meeting Billy’s wide blue eyes.
“Nice guitar,” he blurted.

Oh so many. Loved Land Before Time, Anastasia, FernGully, Iron Giant, Cats Don't Dance, Prince of Egypt... Scooby Doo was major on the shows front as well as Courage the Cowardly Dog. Studio Ghibli and Pokemon led on the anime front 💯 Outcast and non-conforming protagonists were my jam for sure.
