iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

Anyway thanks for your thoughts, they're very insightful! You might not do anything soon but if you want to try to set up something I've done (or adjacent to), hmu

But yeah, a big issue is that people tend to not publish the nitty gritty of their setups for security reasons, or just because it only works for them, and that leaves you a bit lost.

Yeah, I understand. I do think that you kinda just have to throw your hat into the ring, although email is so much of a pain that even I think it's worth paying for. Grabbing an old laptop / raspberry Pi and setting up a web server is probably the only good way to get started - trust the process ^^

I read this as the franchise with those initials and the sentence also works with that!

110

Primm @primm.gay · 13/10/2026

Also just out of interest, why no self host? I'm working on something related (watch this space) and it would be useful to know your problems with it!

110

Primm @primm.gay · 13/10/2026

Matrix would be a good alternative to discord, but it's just too unstable for that unfortunately. I've not tried the alternatives so I actually can't suggest anywhere. Also with matrix/fedi you still have to trust the instance admin, it's just easier to switch

110

Primm @primm.gay · 13/10/2026

The issue with lots of platforms is that they make you put your trust in someone or a group. We've seen this here with the developers here being very pro-AI. And the same thing applies to other platforms. I mean I've literally switched to a Linux distro ran by someone I trust because of other issues

110

Primm @primm.gay · 10/10/2026

Yeahh! This is why I'm tempted to set up matrix on my home server - I have so much selfhosting to do!!

110

Primm @primm.gay · 10/10/2026

The actual image in my head of most people online comes from their vibes anyway! It'd be nice to get to see what you put on your priv! I like keeping up with what people are doing generally

010

Primm @primm.gay · 10/10/2026

Iirc you did show what you looked like once right? It was ages ago on a twitter priv but I think it's still in my head

110

Primm @primm.gay · 10/10/2026

That's completely fair. The fact it's hard to find safe communication channels is worrying. I also agree with you, currently I post about one photo of me a year and even that feels slightly too much :pp

Amberstein Otherwise known as Amber glued together with amber doing amber experiments... (Basically if Frankensteins monster was actually a mad scientist that *put themself* together) #art #halloween

A Bat, with limbs of a Dragon glued onto her with hardened amber, is using amber herself to encase and preserve a fly. An alchemy station is on the table next to her, generating more sap for her to use.

Does someone have a good character sheet template? Not in the sense of DnD with different skills and attributes, but more personality-oriented if that makes sense.

kirbtober day 3: favourite game! split between two 🥲 (prompts by paintpanic) #Kirby #Kirbtober

A drawing of taranza and elfilin in fine fields. They are walking side by side, where elfilin is floating above taranza and looking down. The duo are on the left side of the piece, facing left. On the right is flowery woods, who is resting with its eyes closed.

There used to be a tool that just searches your bluesky followee's bios for mastodon links but I can't find it anymore

Primm @primm.gay · 27/09/2026

Idk if that makes any sense. Being in a relationship is a big thing and you should be really sure that it's right for you before starting one

110

Primm @primm.gay · 27/09/2026

Dw I also see the same thing with some relationships. Sometimes I think problems stem from trying to put qualities you want onto another person, which means coming to terms with the fact they're not that is coming to terms with yourself first

🧵 [Catalan dictionary thread] Catalan/Valencian has tons of different dictionaries for various purposes. Many learners often ask me about them, and even Catalan speakers don’t know about some of these... So here’s a list of the ones I use the most and what they offer :3

No one should be expected to function normally with the state the world is in right now. Take your time and stay safe. Your presence and your music make the world a better place!

Sorry, I'm too british to not see a grand as exclusively pounds :pp I don't have a specific model sadly, most people I know just got whatever they could and it did the job. A TPM is required to boot Windows 11, which locks quite a few older machines behind a wall if you need it

000

Primm @primm.gay · 15/09/2026

(damn I just checked the price and wow its all so high) If you can't find something at a nice student discount, I wouldn't be afraid of buying something older. I'm using a laptop from 2017 for uni and it's great at it (although I have linux on it), just make sure it has a TPM

110

Primm @primm.gay · 15/09/2026

I'll admit that I forgot this is €1000 not a grand Can you get refurbished ones from somewhere you trust? They seem like the sort of things to be quite good 2nd hand

110

Primm @primm.gay · 15/09/2026

I'd be looking at a thinkpad. They don't make them as good as they used to but every company I've been inside uses them as their work machines, which is probably a good sign. They used to be really repairable, but not sure how well that's going nowadays

I think if you wanna have a smaller phone, have a smaller screen (Spoken by a girl with an iPhone 13 mini which is still too big for her and yet most phones on the market are an inch or two bigger)

020

Primm @primm.gay · 10/09/2026

And its strange because the cracks & warping down the middle of the screen makes the phone look cheap and I don't understand why anyone would desire one

110

Primm @primm.gay · 10/09/2026

Some people have them at work and I haven't ever seen them use it in a case that couldn't also be solved by a case with a stand

110

Primm @primm.gay · 09/09/2026

You also have to consider both of these directs together I think

010

Primm @primm.gay · 04/09/2026

I'll be hyped too! I love it when they don't tease things before a direct because then you're really just guessing and I like that!
