I once divorced / had an affair by sending various tracks from "With us until you die" by Archive to the other parties. Fun email threads. Probably not something I should be admitting to on a professional platform... music.youtube.com/playlist?lis...

So, there's this too... Not surprisingly, I guess
A staunch feminist, last year she named former Tory prime minister Margaret Thatcher and former Pakistani prime minister Benazir Bhutto as her political heroes, describing them as "women that broke the mould".

Like her political idols, Mahmood is tough. "I have seen off every attempt to deflect me, to shut me up, to knock me down," she told a Christmas event for the Tony Blair Institute last December.

I still feel a bit sick when I go to my LeChat account and see they've renamed it "Vibe". I don't want to fucking Vibe. I'm 61 years old. Also, when will the cute cat disappear? I fucking hate "Bros". Even (especially?) French Bros.

As someone who sheared their 3 alpacas as recently as last Saturday this terrifies me more than his lack of leadership on trans rights (aka human rights). I didn't take any photos, because we're bored with the alpacas. You know, like the fifth child (me).

One of the best things about the What works DfE Change Programme docs is that real strategy choices are outlined. Each local authority can look through and decide what makes most sense for them, given their starting points. They also outline the pros and cons of each approach.
The four emerging approaches to Navigation While each local area will make specific design choices that reflect local context and needs, from the Change Programme areas we have identified four common approaches to the navigation challenge as they have prototyped Local Inclusion Support Offers (LISOs): Approach 1: Single Point of Contact A single point of contact who refers requests to the correct support services and to coordinate the multi-agency support around children and young people Approach 3: Digital first A digital tool such as a website, SharePoint hub, online portal or dashboard which lists out all available provisions Navigating the LISO Approach 2: Hybrid – Person + Tool The combined approach of a person/team and tool allows for relational coordination and evidence informed targeting Approach 4: Strategic Navigation Team A team who sits behind the ‘front door’ to provisions so there isn’t a single point of contact

"What do you need...?" If we asked this question honestly and openly, and listened to what people say, what would happen? As part of the DfE Change Programme, Herefordshire LA asked "What do you need?" as part of their co-production strategy.

Red/Green colour blindness...
Key Aspects of Red-Green Color Blindness:

Types:

Deuteranomaly/Deutera nopia (Green-weak/Green-blind): Most common type. Green appears more red, or cannot be seen at all, resulting in muted colors.

Protanomaly/Protanopia (Red-weak/Red-blind): Reds appear darker and less bright, or cannot be seen at all, often looking gray or brown.

As someone who wrote a lot of (now lost) poems as a kid, I started reading poetry to my blind, toothless cat a couple of winters ago. Egged on by Clive James' "The fire of joy", which should be a standard text for O level English.

Clive, writing about Vita Sackville-West's "Craftsmen" wordandsilence.com/2024/02/28/v...
... On the level of verbal carpentry, Vita's control of the narrative flow depends largely on how she can break into the iambic pentameter verse paragraph without hobbling the pace. The occasional tetrameter or trimeter clicks into position with barely a shudder.

Would-be poets who are foolish enough to think that this trick might be easy should be warned that it is wise to get plenty of practice making the pentameters match exactly before you break into them with a shorter line. The deadly interaction of a pentameter that doesn't scan properly and a short line that doesn't scan properly either has reduced many a recent poem to a shambling wreck, apparently without the poet in question even noticing that the car has crashed across the traffic island and crumpled its nose against a concrete bollard. It's the illusion of heady progress that brings on the madness: on the page of one's composition book, a poem isn't necessarily sustaining its impetus just because it seems to move forward. It might be headed towards oblivion.

Achievement

This evaluation area considers:

whether the school provides a high-quality education for all pupils (the impact), especially disadvantaged pupils, those with SEND, those who are known (or previously known) to children's social care, and those who may face other barriers to their learning and/or well-being, that gives them the necessary knowledge, skills and qualifications to succeed in life, and equips them for the next stage of their education, training or employment

pupils' attainment and progress over time in national tests and examinations, where relevant

the progress that pupils make across the curriculum from their starting points, so that they know more, remember more and are able to do more

Inspectors focus on gathering evidence relating to the factors that statutory and non-statutory guidance, professional standards, research and inspection evidence indicate contribute most strongly to pupils' achievement.

These factors are:

securing important foundational knowledge in language and communication, reading, writing and mathematics so that pupils can access the whole curriculum

reading fluently at an age-appropriate level

securing the knowledge and skills pupils need before undertaking more complex tasks

ensuring that pupils make progress from their starting points, in that they know more, remember more and can do more; they learn what is intended, and develop broad and deep subject knowledge across the curriculum

equipping pupils to produce high-quality work that reflects the breadth and depth of their learning

equipping pupils to achieve well in national tests and examinations, where relevant, and across the wider curriculum

preparing pupils, at each phase, for the next stage of education, training or employment

The first problem with the kids survey is that it excludes kids who need social media to "escape" their parents... By demanding parental permission for the kids to do it...

Department for Science, Innovation & Technology

National Conversation

This survey is designed for young people aged 10-21 years old. However, if you are aged 15 or younger, we need your parent or carer to answer a few questions first before they hand over to you to do the interesting stuff. If you are aged 15 or younger, please find a parent or carer and ask them to answer the next few questions.

Press the Next button when you are ready to continue.
