Absolutely heartbreaking and beautiful. Laura has held a special place in my heart in the indie scene ever since To the Moon. 10/2 Opening Level - Star Fesitval from Super Mario Galaxy I replayed this level so much as a kid. Mostly because any time a challenge happened I would restart the game but also I was dumbfounded by the graphics of the cutscenes.

so the anime just kinda picked out designs they liked and reshaped them into a completely different world, slapping the "2000 years before the game" to cover their ass basically lol So it feels like a reenactment of the game *before* the game even knew what it was going to be.

The Meremanoid anime is so fascinating. I've been trying to wrap my head around how the development worked in tandem with the game. The game was in pre-production ~1997 when the anime released and there was a vague idea of this whole "Ardin is a merman in a sea of mermaids" but not much else
