Currently failing miserably at making a self closing mock ring. I’m having the same problem I often have when going from a chain to a ring, where even if I get the first double stitch super close to the last double stitch of the chain a gap somehow forms between them as I make the ring

Did the third step in the pattern and my tension varies so much the two sides with the same stitch count are fully different sizes 😭💔 I’m not gonna go back and redo it or anything since this is like the 3rd or so actual project I’ve done so I’m trying to let myself be imperfect while I’m a beginner

Attempt number 1 Realized after the 8th step that I did something wrong bc it was supposed to connect somewhere it couldn’t reach and surprise the piece was sideways based on where the earring loop ended up 🫠 I think I flipped it some time I shouldn’t have (or didn’t flip it when I should’ve)

I’m switching grips of my ball thread half way through each stitch while I’m tatting 😭 Middle finger holding tension while making the flipped knot, then pointer finger holding the tension while pulling the flipped knot tight I’m doing this entirely subconsciously 🫠

Update on this! I’m making her some tatted rose earrings!! A pattern I found on Pinterest and a video tutorial for similar needle tatted earrings (I do shuttle tatting) are my guides lol. I’ll post a pic of how they turn out eventually! I’m debating on whether or not to do the bottom bead
