Nothing like having a parent die to summon lore

Hot rosebay willowherb tea, a flagon of cold plum an' gooseberry cordial, some freshly-baked quince tarts, and a plate of cheese and hazelnut rolls.

Gonna put in a shout for Vortex. Good stuff, reasonable price-point (n.b. still gonna run you ~500 bucks), and lifetime guarantee.

Yeah it was more nearly a 18 month blip, and then you got 24-30 months before AI started to make its presence felt.

I think this is generally correct, but move the start point back a bit and substitute 99-00 for 97-98 because the latter graduated college right into COVID

The trolley was laden with preserved strawberries, plum an' damson cake, fruit salad with whipped cream, blackberry cordial, and hot rosehip tea.

That's rarely the choice being offered, even in the most prescriptive curricula. Typically, you won't have to take p-chem, but you must show some college-level facility with numbers. You might not have to take philosophy, but you will have to take classes based on dissecting readings, not organisms

What time is it? Just past noon, wot. I'd normally be sittin' down to me post-luncheon snack now. Rosepetal an' maple wafers, scones with honeymaple preserves an' beechnut paste, with a nice pot o' borage an' rosehip tea.

Cycling until about the last 20 years was very much a people's sport, like soccer.

My senior year was mostly plays. Literally the only novel we read that year was The Picture of Dorian Grey. It fucking slapped got to read Lear, M. Butterfly, The Importance of Being Earnest, and Doubt. Loved them all.

As always I think it's a matter of degree. Can't make an omelet without cracking a certain number of eggs, but I'd agree in many respects we've exceeded that.

Yeah the honey mangos have so much higher floor and slightly higher ceiling in both flavor and texture imo

I've sworn off the Tommy Atkins big green and red mangos for a few years in favor of the smaller yellow Honey mangos for precisely this reason

The food was good, but not fancy: figs and russet apples, nuts and bilberries, hot oatmeal, soft hazelnut bread, cheeses, and comfrey tea, with flagons of cordial for those who wanted it.

That portage is gonna be unfun though unless you got one of the good 35-40 pound boats. 2+ miles with a 200 ft climb

Ponebrewed🦉🏳️‍🌈 @ponebrewed.bsky.social · 28/04/2026

I think that IS the most direct route, unless we gonna run the Holland Tunnel

Honestly if you started from Times Square this wouldn't be much more dangerous than your typical city biking experience. There's a bike path along the hudson in NYC and over the GWB. In Jersey, there's a way to avoid main arterials for 75% of the trip.

I also was an only child and there was an unspoken agreement that what ever my parents said directed at me was fair game to be directed back at them especially from adolescence on.

I swore at my mom a handful of times, mostly in high school. Told her to fuck off about an order of magnitude more often, which is still exceedingly rarely, we're still talking about once or twice a year here. I would never in a million years have called her that.
