And if it is something they can change, it should probably be said quietly and directly to them, on the lines of "you've got spinach in your teeth", or "your skirt's tucked into your knickers at the back", not shouting across the room "YOU'VE GOT ODD SOCKS ON"!

As we're getting into poppy-fucker season, if anyone wants to give them an apoplexy, may I present the Poppy Scotland Pride pin? (The Scottish ones look more like a real poppy...)

Might have something to do with using a broad-nibbed (therefore wet) fountain pen, and much paper not coping well with that amount of ink?

I looked online for a barometric pressure thing, because it's been all over the place the last week, found one (although the verbiage is obviously GenAI), it's going to carry on being bonkers.
Graph of forecast barometric pressure over the next week in central Scotland

Have you read the Strange Practice series by Vivian Shaw? Dr Helsing (she/her) is the modern-day doctor to the differently alive, and some of the great fictional vampires are central characters (Lord Ruthven, Sir Francis Varney etc.).

I remember watching a documentary (probably Channel 4) on Savile, and it gave me a mini mental breakdown! So I thank you deeply for your service. But won't be watching it myself.

The Anne Droid, from an episode of Doctor Who. Ms. Kensington (played by Liz Hurley) in Austin Powers, International Man of Mystery, who turns out to be a fem-bot.

Depends on the climate... I wouldn't be without mine (but at least it's a new heat pump one, so less greedy).

Reminds me of the plug-in "EMF shields" sold by charlatans... (Yes I had a friend who would have liked nothing better than to live in a Faraday cage, and had a high-tech tinfoil hat/snood thing to wear when exposed to things like Bluetooth and WiFi).

I refuse to use GenAI, get very frustrated when a colleague says they use it to tighten up their emails. (They have a bit of, a Carrot Ironfoundersson usage of commas, but I'm guessing that's down to inadequacies in how they were taught).

I usually cook rice on the stove top with the same proportions, bring to the boil fot 1 minute, then let it stand at minimum setting (1 on a 1 to 9 halogen hob) for about 20 minutes or so. If you cook long grain that way anyway, it should work in the oven too :-)

Ok. When American writers set their books in the UK, we'd appreciate it if you got wee details you decide to use correct. Latest gripe... someone referring to an AGA as having "burners", or, indeed, being "banked". They just ARE... particularly if they are older ones.

Well that was easy; cooked rice in the oven (as wanted it on anyway). 1 mug rice, 2 mugs boiling water, sprinkle of salt, knob of butter, in a small heavy cast-iron casserole. About 40 minutes at 185⁰C.

Is it to much to ask that we treat all people who are not consciously doing evil to others as equal? Meanwhile remove access to the Internet for the actively evil, such as Musk, Trump, Putin, Netanyahu, Farage and Rowling... which will severely limit their ability to harm others.

FFS. I hate how people think they're doing the right thing by infecting their colleagues. Particularly egregious when they have the option to WFH, if not ill enough to take a sick day. People who come to choir while snotty & sneezing can also get in the bin.
