The first original Boards of Canada music in 13 years! I only truly got into BOC over the last two years so it's maybe not that long of a gap for me, but I didn't think I'd ever witness a new album being launched by them. Some kind of 5th release is happening and it couldn't come at a better time

Time for a new change 🌊 The Walk Home is my debut single under the new artist name Tides Reach. Taking its name from my childhood home that was a short walk to the sea, Tides Reach is a chillsynth project that aims to capture what my home environment means to me.

Acclivity made it to the vaporwave Best Albums of 2024 list! If you're into the classic sample-based slushwave of telepath you'll probably be into this. underwater-computing.bandcamp.com/album/accliv...

RIP David Lynch Someone once posted that every member of the vaporwave community is either into Twin Peaks or Wrestling. Without the community I would have never known about Lynch's works beyond Dune. Thankfully I saw many more including Twin Peaks which, like many here, I became a big fan of.

I've deleted the few AI generated pictures from my Instagram as there's a backlash among certain creators which I agree with. I dabbled a bit with it in 2019 when it was primitive and was later tempted to use Midjourney to help with album artwork ideas but that's as far as I intend to use it.

I am thankful for Splice Bridge. 🙏 Being able to browse and audition any drum loop in time with my project's tempo and even mix and EQ it in really helps.

VR game devs, how about a John Cena stealth game where you can wave your VR tracked hand in front of your face to become invisible but moving depletes this finite amount of invisibility. Missions could include retrieving your clothes from backstage and youre only limited to close martial arts combat

On my third day of opening the DAW to devote an hour to writing. I don't intend to build up a streak but there certainly feels like less creative friction with what I'm working on at the moment. In other news I'm having no luck deciding on an artist name. They've all been thought of.

I had two physical releases this year that I was very happy with but I had began to lose interest with vaporwave in 2023. 2025 will see the start of a new chillsynth project not under polyglot. If I'm too slow to finish the whole album I'll at least have a single or two on Spotify by next year.

Tapes and minidiscs for Acclivity are still available! Acclivity gets its main inspiration from the early 90s European electronic artists that incorporated Gregorian chant in their music. I felt this style was a good match for vw roman statues underwater-computing.bandcamp.com/album/accliv...

Have you ever collabed with another artist who goes missing in the middle of the project? What was going to be my first synthwave collab didn't get further than a few bars as the other dude dropped off the earth and was never heard from again. Hope they're ok.

The signal path from an idea in my head to getting it down on the DAW is never straightforward. It's prone to many chaotic factors that push it off course. By the time I enter the notes I've forgotten the original idea and something quite different has come out.

There are various recipes for using leftover pumpkins after Halloween but a large pumpkin designed for carving has to be the worst vegetable to use for cooking. If I didn't add lentils to the soup I was making it would have ended up a complete unapetising waste. Filler material only.

When I open up Dexed I get the meta-nostalgia vibes back to the first tracks I created in 2017 when I didn't have a lot of commercial VSTs. Janky as it may be, it's still very useful when Arturia DX7 V or Digital Synsations doesn't have the sound you want

Is there as much of an interest in physical albums in vaporwave as there was five or six years ago? I personally don't collect physicals anymore since I moved house and the cost of living crisis hit. In 2018 I would sometimes feverishly refresh Bandcamp pages to snag releases before they sold out.

My interest in the vaporwave scene is at its lowest since I started but maybe Future Sounds will help rekindle it. Moving forward, I think the best way for me to still stay in the scene is to step back and incorporate vaporwave as part of a balanced diet of other genres to listen to.
