Polyducks @polyducks.co.uk · 10hOmg I didn't know this! Sorry, I must have conflated the build process of iphone and desktop. Here's me teaching my grandmother to suck eggs haha 010
Reposted by PolyducksSeeOne @seeone.bsky.social · 28/09/2026You might have seen some pickle cards pop up in your feed! I hosted a Pickle Cards #collab, where I invited some amazing pixel artists to make their own pickle #cards ( #pixelart ID cards). Everyone made epic stuff, you can check out all the cards here: seeone.neocities.org/pickleCardsseeone.neocities.orgSeeOne | PickleCards 94923
Polyducks @polyducks.co.uk · 11hI coded the gallery for this! Check out everyone's great work :D 2182
Polyducks @polyducks.co.uk · 11hThough reading about it, if you needed a simple browser and you just want some text, maybe a Gemini browser would be useful... Browsers and URLs are listed here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gemini_...en.wikipedia.orgGemini (protocol) - Wikipedia 000
Polyducks @polyducks.co.uk · 11hCorrection: I'm looking it up and the Gemini protocol is *without* images. I knew there was something about images. To clarify, Gemini is an alternative to https. You'd type gemini://website.com to reach a gemtext file. Sorry, I'm going way off topic. 110
Polyducks @polyducks.co.uk · 11hThat's why the Gemini protocol came into being. It's a simpler standard for the web which just involves basic formatted plain text and images. Anyway, point being that other browsers on your iphone might attack and digest those web pages better. 110
Polyducks @polyducks.co.uk · 11hNawh you're thinking of Chromium. Most browsers which aren't Firefox, IE, or Safari are a branch of Chromium, which is the basis for Google Chrome. The reason being is that we have such complicated internet standards with legacy support that building from scratch is an insurmountable cost. 200
Polyducks @polyducks.co.uk · 20hYes. It's like watching someone try to animate a cartoon as it goes out live. 000
Polyducks @polyducks.co.uk · 20hI'm a big fan of not upgrading. You can replace the battery on many older iphones by taking it to the apple store. Also (and I'm not sure how to go about this for older versions), but you could try downloading another browser like firefox or chrome to see if the web performance is better. 121
Polyducks @polyducks.co.uk · 20hPack seven days of clothes and research a laundrette in advance. Though your accommodation may also have a washing machine. 010

Polyducks @polyducks.co.uk · 29/09/2026Wonderful gift. This is one of those "highlight of my career" / "put it on the diploma wall" sort of gifts. Superb execution too. 010
Polyducks @polyducks.co.uk · 29/09/2026I tell you hwhat, novelty food crossovers are the one highlight of my spiralling capitalist hellscape future. Hail Heinz. 000
Polyducks @polyducks.co.uk · 28/09/2026I thought it was a melty brain disease, glad it's not that! 000
Polyducks @polyducks.co.uk · 27/09/2026*amendment to stats: 2/3 projects get finished, 1/4 ever get published online. 010
Polyducks @polyducks.co.uk · 27/09/2026Usually people are waiting for something to be cool before they join, and if you put in an initial effort to get it going and established you'll find more enthusiasm for the project. 110
Polyducks @polyducks.co.uk · 27/09/2026I've also used email, forums, etc. The main key is enthusiasm. If it is something all parties are excited about, it can happen regardless (or in spite) of tech, and it can happen pretty quickly. If they're not enthusiastic and they can't find a motivation, then payment helps. 110
Polyducks @polyducks.co.uk · 27/09/2026Usually a lot of Discord messages and streaming hangouts. I've done a few by email before. I've done some in messages with you (i.e. the dino page). Maybe about 1/5 ever get completed, and 1/10 ever get published to the internet. 110

Polyducks @polyducks.co.uk · 26/09/2026It's deceptively simple. Actually drawing the pixels and mapping the colour movement to the scene with the correct delays is 4D work, and my brain struggles to comprehend it even after seeing a behind-the-scenes. What a way to stretch functionality. 0180

Polyducks @polyducks.co.uk · 23/09/2026Making stuff is HARD, but your shitty output is HUMAN and REAL, and most importantly it doesn't look like Facebook Studio Ghibli corpo speak with an empty gameplay loop, and it doesn't get you banned from the jam. 2332
Polyducks @polyducks.co.uk · 23/09/2026More sad news from GBJAM - people who have used AI during the jam for vibecoding, prompts and concepts etc are getting disqualified, and it's disqualifying entire teams who had nothing to do with that decision. It's heartbreaking how the responses imply they feel helpless without an LLM. 3452

Polyducks @polyducks.co.uk · 22/09/2026Don't let them push you out of your hobbies. Winning means nothing. One year I got a 3/5 for audio on a submission that was silent. Voting is absolute nonsense. I'd push that angle more in GBJam but people like it for their portfolios. 120
Polyducks @polyducks.co.uk · 22/09/2026Thanks, that's really nice to hear, and it's why we do it! Congrats on your job :) 020
