I had to double check he was still speaking in parliament etc, as if he wasn't I'd think less of him than resigning, but he is still doing his job, so yes I do think more of him too, really didn't expect he'd stick around this long.

Though the image and i think the question generally is wrong too. Everton no longer play at Goodison Park. (Hill Dickinson Stadium is in Riverside)

I'm sure they'd have turned off their bodycam well before even thinking about going to the toilet unfortunately.

Nah those answer's can't be correct. As he says we know how quickly the UK state operates. And a few props are equally as complex if not more so as any other thing the British state does.

4/6 appointments are from Yorkshire seats so far. We even let you in West Yorkshire have one...

With 3 of the top Cabinet jobs filled by South Yorkshire MPs and a proposed No 10 North in Manchester, will we finally improve Sheffield -> Manchester travel.

Terrible optics, destoying the French so much after that. Think that should be a resigning issue for the PM.

How long after it's no longer Government policy will it take for it to be a popular policy again...

That VAR decision could hurt Count Binface's chances given his policies.

The fact 7/8 games in R16 featured a team from the Americas and were so close to losing all of them is incredible.

The question for Nigel Farage now is whether it's less embarrassing to un-resign and claim that was an establishment stitchup, or to spend a month competing with a bin. Neither is exactly a *great* option. Neither solves his ongoing scandals. And it's a mess entirely of his own making.

Someone really should just change their name to Generic Democrat... just to see if they can out poll a generic democrat or not. Bonus points if they stand as a Republican.

No in this case the King does make the call as a ceremonial duty. The words will be written by the PM though.

I really want France to lose. But think I am more glad that team don't advance like that. Hopefully that Ref won't be seen on the international stage agaian.

I never thought there would be an early GE from this. But Burnham himself ruling it out means I'm the least certain I've been.

Is in not CLP *or* Affiliates? The threshold is so low i don't think either would have a problem with it. Not that I think either would get the MP noms to matter anyway.

According solely to polymarket next PM market he is the frontrunner out of those currently eligible to be Labour leader. Which is two massive caveats.

I'd probably respect it much more if they said the policy was to revive city/town centres, part of the levelling up agenda. Plus putting the policy under that almost guarantees it'll never be implemented.

It's clear based on the results that they successfully gathered info on exactly how not to win. (Really lineup/fitness, formation, set pieces)

It's getting really hard to design poll questionnaires that don't prime people against Trump, just because of how crazy all this is. You cannot ask a "neutral" question about the president of the United States directing the Department of Justice to settle his case against the IRS. This is just crazy

As a Labour member my vote is definitely for the sweet release of death. That's true even over options that I'd actually like to see lead.

Olympic Gold Medal Boxer. Fit's into the 'local hero' Independent mayor model, but ran as Reform. Not massively vocal for Reform but leans towards them. Certainly seems one other northern Mayors are happy trying to deal woth.

I wish Campbell would quit Reform. They seem to have a habit of getting him to reverse decisions when it doesn't agree with reform nationally (Esp on Net Zero) Would also help Burnham here.

I wonder if it's possible he did have *just* enough numbers but no where near commanding support. Then coupled with the Labour membership polling he realised how it would go... But still, Streeting seems to be the person who will still challenge rather than take pragmatic options.

Andy Lawton @politics.andylawton.com · 14/05/2026
To both pay attention to know they dislike but not enough to know he's not resigning with the intention of being *less* involved is pretty crazy.

Andy Lawton @politics.andylawton.com · 14/05/2026
I do think if he doesn't challenge, but Starmer is replaced. Streeting has a better chance of a cabinet job. Maybe it is smart. Though I expect he's still planning to challenge just weakening Starmer more first, to get some who are still saying no.

I really struggle to see Wes being able to, I feel too many people may have made up their mind up on him in a way that a change in campaign would be seen as too dishonest. Al Carns / Whoever I'd absolutely agree with James, very unpredictable.
