I can vote blue without giving the DNC my money to fund them sabotaging progressives constantly. I only donate to individual candidates I like.

Tax billionaire wealth. I frankly don't care if a billionaire can make a second billion. I'd rather have the average person be able to make their first $100k.

It feels like the people that have the most problem with lalafells existing are heavily modded, overly horny players that assume every other player is also at least that horny so anyone who plays lala must be a weird degenerate. sorry for having whimsy in my heart.

if this is the only way yall will actually consider marking AI slop on the platform here's another data point

010

PokeyStick @pokeystick.tomato.place · 21/09/2026

oh and weight! If it costs $7000/kilogram to get something to the moon, you're gonna cut all the weight you reasonably can. Spending an extra $5000 to cut 2 kilos of batteries would be totally worth.

140

PokeyStick @pokeystick.tomato.place · 21/09/2026

Moon rovers are running on like a dinky solar panel and need every single bit of efficiency they can get, and they're making maybe a dozen moon rovers, so if they can spend 100% more money on a 7% more efficient drive those numbers add up to a happy face for that use case easy

130

PokeyStick @pokeystick.tomato.place · 21/09/2026

Say you can get a regular direct-drive motor running at 75-80% efficiency, they're dead simple to manufacture, and medium efficiency wins would only let you make the battery like 10% smaller.

130

PokeyStick @pokeystick.tomato.place · 21/09/2026

and unfortunately a major metric cars are judged on is their 0-60 acceleration time. Both systems are accelerating the same mass of car to the same speed and that's gonna take a mostly equal amount of charge from batteries either way unless one is crazily more efficient.

130

PokeyStick @pokeystick.tomato.place · 21/09/2026

Assuming both systems are relatively efficiently using their power, the battery packs would probably need to be about the same size for comparable mileage. From what I can find on a harmonic drive, it has a "spin-up" time that would make it a little slower to accelerate from zero-

130

PokeyStick @pokeystick.tomato.place · 21/09/2026

My best bet is needing faster low-end torque to get things moving, and just overall complexity/bill-of-materials cost. A car doesn't need precision nearly as much as it needs power, and BOM cost is important when you want to sell a million of something at smaller margins
