Firstly, I love the title of this poem Secondly, followers know I love a sonnet. This subverts the traditional sonnet, written to a single lover, to a lament to the many – and though forgotten the emotional imprint of their kisses remain ‘the rain is full of ghosts tonight’ #poetry #poemoftheday

Had a walk yesterday around the Simpson Ground area on the southern edge of the Lakes. It was a lovely peaceful wander in warm sunshine for a good part of it! We came across some amazing old gnarly trees at various points in the walk. Not ideal conditions for woodland shots but some to go back to!

"Autumnal lines" a narrow view across to Pike O'Blisco on the Lingmoor descent from Saturday; beautiful autumnal colours starting to develop. #ShareMondays2026

"The Partita in D minor for solo violin, BWV" by #Johann_Sebastian_Bach The first time I heard the final movement, the #Chaconne, I was changed in a #spiritually substantial way. #Music like it occurs very rarely, by which I mean in a titanic way. It cannot be matched. youtu.be/qtyTaE7LvVs?...

We braved the Lakes yesterday for a walk (Lingmoor from Elterwater)....boy is it busy in the Lakes these days. A mainly overcast day with intermittent light....nice to get up a hill again, even if it's a small one!

Today is European Day of Languages I've a good friend who spoke Ulster Scots until he went to secondary school and was beaten by the teachers until he spoke properly Here Liz Berry recalls her & her father’s love of Black Country dialect before school robbed her of language #poetry #poemoftheday

Walked through the allotment the other day to see how the dahlias were doing in the polytunnel. I thought they might have gone over by now, but no, they're still alive and blooming. Perhaps another visit in a week or so to get the end of season shots as they fade away! #TunnelVision

Some diehard MAGA people are changing on a dime now. A woman that had been to 42 Trump rallies. A man who had voted Republican for 50 years. Every MAGA voter is now considering their choice. This is not over. There are 41 days until Election Day, November 3rd. Make every day count. #uspolitics

I believe most of modern #art does fail because it doesn't center itself in realism enough. Ask at what point does art become ridiculous. It's a fair question. The same people mock #realism mock the hardest working artists. It is a question of originality over art. youtu.be/cQPCMU_kvlU?...

Happy first day of autumn! In Yosemite Valley, the real season doesn't arrive until the black oaks catch fire in late fall. Until then, here's what I'm waiting for. 🍂 Swipe for a surprise at the end. ❄️

The titan realization of an individual is manifested with total devastation in #Sylvia_Plath's beautiful poetry. I cannot think of poetry without her raw confessions. She is great because she had been writing about death so much that it became her true husband. #literature youtu.be/yptNNj40Wk8?...

A breathtaking landscape photograph captures the dramatic spectacle of the sun setting behind rolling hills, its golden rays piercing through a dramatic cloud formation to illuminate the verdant foliage below.
The scene is composed with a vertical orientation, emphasizing the expansive sky and the dramatic descent of light. The sun is the clear focal point, emanating powerful rays that stretch across the frame. The foreground is dominated by dry, golden grasses, leading the eye upwards towards the middle ground, where lush green trees are dramatically lit. The background features layered hills fading into a hazy horizon, creating a sense of depth and vastness. The atmosphere is one of profound beauty and serenity, evoking a sense of awe and the transient nature of time. The mood is simultaneously dramatic and peaceful, a testament to the raw power and exquisite artistry of nature.

What most call classical music is actually broken into distinct categories, but regardless of this fact it has been expressing the best of humanity for 500 years. It is timeless. It can transform your life. It will always be there for you. #music #classical_music youtu.be/EoDRwueyEsw?...

For myself, Joris-Karl Huysmans has been a major influence. If any writer moves out of the boundaries of formalism, they soon discover the artificial nature of literary categories. A tremendous liberation is granted to an author who destroys genres by en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joris-K...
