Mick Houghton @mickh5.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Had a walk yesterday around the Simpson Ground area on the southern edge of the Lakes. It was a lovely peaceful wander in warm sunshine for a good part of it! We came across some amazing old gnarly trees at various points in the walk. Not ideal conditions for woodland shots but some to go back to! 6886
Mick Houghton @mickh5.bsky.social · 28/09/2026"Autumnal lines" a narrow view across to Pike O'Blisco on the Lingmoor descent from Saturday; beautiful autumnal colours starting to develop. #ShareMondays2026 4623
Mick Houghton @mickh5.bsky.social · 27/09/2026We braved the Lakes yesterday for a walk (Lingmoor from Elterwater)....boy is it busy in the Lakes these days. A mainly overcast day with intermittent light....nice to get up a hill again, even if it's a small one! 5567
Mick Houghton @mickh5.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Update: this morning when I took the camera out there were 2 ticks in the viewfinder! WTF?! 271
Mick Houghton @mickh5.bsky.social · 24/09/2026Just been up on our local fell & took the OM1 film camera to give it an outing! Now I know from experience with the dog that there's loads of ticks up there, in fact we got 6 off her today! However imagine my surprise when I took the lens cap off there was a bloody tick inside the viewfinder...how? 3110
Mick Houghton @mickh5.bsky.social · 24/09/2026Walked through the allotment the other day to see how the dahlias were doing in the polytunnel. I thought they might have gone over by now, but no, they're still alive and blooming. Perhaps another visit in a week or so to get the end of season shots as they fade away! #TunnelVision 138813
Mick Houghton @mickh5.bsky.social · 23/09/2026Another from our Morecambe prom wander at weekend! 25310
Mick Houghton @mickh5.bsky.social · 22/09/2026A 45 minute local walk with the dog this morning.....mundane beauty all around us. I took the camera as there was still a bit of damp mist hanging around and we don't get much round these parts! 4433
Mick Houghton @mickh5.bsky.social · 21/09/2026Upper Longsleddale, lower Gatescarth Pass. A long steady climb from Sadgill.....but not this time as we took the easier option back across to Kentmere. #LakeDistrict #ShareMondays2026 1726
Mick Houghton @mickh5.bsky.social · 21/09/2026We had my partner’s cousin staying for the weekend, so after a decent walk in the Lakes on Saturday we went down to Morecambe yesterday morning, for a gentle stroll along the prom. As they wandered along chatting, I took a few snaps; I didn’t feel as guilty stopping a few more times than usual. 3342
Mick Houghton @mickh5.bsky.social · 17/09/2026I can feel the title of wildlife photographer of the year creeping ever closer!!! Surely it won't be long now?! 😁🤣 2302
Mick Houghton @mickh5.bsky.social · 16/09/2026Just a simple rural scene that we walk past most days! 2605
Mick Houghton @mickh5.bsky.social · 15/09/2026Sunday morning on my local hill - Farleton Fell. It started off quite damp and misty before it all burned off, leaving a lovely warm late summer morning! (It's not Autumn until the Solstice on the 23rd). You gotta love a limestone plateau in the mist. #limestone 5546
Mick Houghton @mickh5.bsky.social · 14/09/2026A riveting shot from a walk along the canal yesterday afternoon. 0341
Mick Houghton @mickh5.bsky.social · 10/09/2026There's something photogenic about an old window that I don't often resist. Over the years I will have taken many images of a wide variety of windows and today was no exeption. This is the Ship Inn at Sandside; it's been closed for a good while now and is very unlikely to reopen as a pub. 5736
Mick Houghton @mickh5.bsky.social · 09/09/2026Juniper bark on the limestone pavement whilst we were out walking yesterday. 1455
Mick Houghton @mickh5.bsky.social · 08/09/2026The steps.... The Hospice on Hampsfell, now just a viewing platform looking out over Morecambe Bay and into the Lakes. A little care needed on the descent. 2313
Mick Houghton @mickh5.bsky.social · 07/09/2026Yet another one from the "Tunnel Vision" project. An early flowering dahlia, which has bloomed, faded and is now decomposing. I think there's just as much beauty even at this stage of a plant's life cycle. #ShareMondays2026 1695
Mick Houghton @mickh5.bsky.social · 06/09/2026It's amazing what catches your eye as you're wandering around. This was about a mile from home as I walked the small path between the river & the paper mill; the light was just catching these bales of shredded paper left near the fence....so I poked my camera through! This really is a nothing shot! 3343
Mick Houghton @mickh5.bsky.social · 04/09/2026One of the shortest canals in the UK (1.25miles).....Ulverston. The old loch gates down at Canal Foot which have gradually deteriorated over the years. It was opened in 1796 and abandoned after WWII en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ulverst... 1382
Mick Houghton @mickh5.bsky.social · 03/09/2026Just been trawling through some old shots and came across this one from Lindisfarne. It's a popular shot if you're ever wandering round the old boat hut area. 1202
Mick Houghton @mickh5.bsky.social · 02/09/2026Perspective 3 shots from a walk on Monday; all along the same stretch of road. 1320

Mick Houghton @mickh5.bsky.social · 31/08/2026Heversham Hill fom Capon Crag. Another circular walk from home this morning....nice to avoid the bank holiday crowds. 0270
Mick Houghton @mickh5.bsky.social · 30/08/2026A lovely walk from home yesterday....it was overcast but it felt good. Lots to see and enjoy throughout: quiet lanes, open fields, limestone woodland, a bit of coast and riverbank. 2353
Mick Houghton @mickh5.bsky.social · 29/08/2026I'll take the bike today then should I....?! This gets more overgrown each time I pass it. Milnthorpe....just off the main square! 0230
Mick Houghton @mickh5.bsky.social · 28/08/2026Just listening to the long awaited new album from two of my favourite Prog guitarists. Steve Hackett & Steve Rothery - The Roaring Waves A beautiful instrumentalalbum that will be on repeat for a while I think.....masterful! 161
Mick Houghton @mickh5.bsky.social · 28/08/2026a very subdued one from the polytunnel......a couple of small pompom dahlias, which I don't think would have worked if they'd both been the same colour! 0453
Mick Houghton @mickh5.bsky.social · 27/08/2026Four intimate images from a pleasant hour wandering around the allotment on Tuesday evening......the dropping sun casting some nice light around. #allotment #harvest 56611
Mick Houghton @mickh5.bsky.social · 26/08/2026One from the latest visit to the allotment (last night)....a wander with the camera in the evening sunshine looking for images for the "Tunnel Vision" project. Not a dahlia, but some beautifully shaped leaves, with some lovely backlighting. The dirt of the polytunnel adds to the image in my eyes. 4544
Mick Houghton @mickh5.bsky.social · 25/08/2026"Nothing to sea, hear" a wander on the vast sandy bay at Flookburgh yesterday; not a lot to see really, until you start looking. A vast area of beautiful nothingness; which somehows enhances your listening skills. At some points out on the bay, there literally was nothing.....no sound, just sand! 2281
Mick Houghton @mickh5.bsky.social · 24/08/2026First time down the allotment with a camera for a while...not much activity on the dahlia front in terms of the "tunnel vision" project.......but this caught my eye and gave me a bit of hope! 3464
Mick Houghton @mickh5.bsky.social · 23/08/2026just been for a walk to the allotment....,more or less the first thing I saw as we entered......great to see a dog cage being put to good use as a "maiden" for the onions. #allotment #onions #blackandwhite 1272
Mick Houghton @mickh5.bsky.social · 22/08/2026an old favourite tree which I passed regularly on our dog walks, when we lived in Oakworth....it snapped in a winter storm, but then took on a far more interesting shape. I have images of this from all angles and in all conditions, but I quite like the snowy or misty scenes best. 2191
