Goodbye Bluesky. I deactivated 4 months ago after a traumatic experience, having my boundaries and consent repeatedly violated by a former close friend. (Let’s call her Jane to protect her identity). I've realized that I'm unable to find closure.

For months, Jane has been pursuing a sexual and romantic relationship with me, pushed to be friends with benefits with me, and looked to be in a polycule with me and RAYN4. Jane did all this while knowing that I didn’t feel the same way and that I was already spoken for in a closed relationship.

Assigning meaning to a bodily response is a very dangerous thing to do, which made Jane’s constant boundary violations even more uncomfortable. RAYN4 said it did push buttons but nothing more, and explained how she felt familial love for Jane, as a friend and seeing her as a big sister.

This brings me to Mary (name changed to protect her identity). I was in her discord server that I left because Jane was also there. Mary reached out to me but it took me a few days to respond when she reached out the second time, because I struggled to talk about what happened.

Back to July 1st, to the moment where we caught Jane lying about her jealousy, wanting a polycule, etc. Right after Jane left the chat groups she was in with us, she immediately started to air dirty laundry in public while context collapsing the situation to villainize us.

As mentioned earlier, I went to sleep when the group conversation winded down, right before Jane messaged RAYN4 privately. I woke up only managing to sleep two hours due to relationship troubles. I checked my phone, seeing Jane had messaged me saying she’s okay, I replied saying I’m worried for her.

Immediately after, despite RAYN4 having clearly stated she doesn’t feel romantically towards Jane, Jane went into RAYN4’s DMs in order to further violate her boundaries. Jane resorted to emotional blackmail by threatening self-harm, egocide and cutting out pieces of her soul.

On April 21, I was dealing with relationship issues between me and my then partner (now ex) of almost six years. I got permission from my partner to share the full conversation with Jane and RAYN4, because my partner thought my friends could help to try and salvage our relationship.

In April 2024, RAYN4 and I unexpectedly fell in love, but decided not to pursue each other, respecting our boundaries as we were both in our separate closed relationships. The news of me confessing my feelings to RAYN4 on April 14 sent Jane into a jealousy fueled, dysphoric spiral.

When I woke up the next morning, I realized that Jane’s boundary pushing and jealousy had left me feeling upset way more than I realized, so I muted the chat to distance myself for a while. Jane responded 5 hours later with an “okay, sorry” and that she would “look inward and work on her shit”.

To start with some clear context: the first time Jane confessed her feelings for me, which I did not reciprocate, was around mid 2023. In April 2024, RAYN4 and I fell in love with each other, but considering we were both in separate, closed relationships at the time, we decided not to pursue.
