Study time with my partner yesterday and I 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 defeated this thing. I was warned Jacquin comes off as unlikable but I don't think I was ready for just how unlikable he seems. About a third of the book feels like I'm being sold on how great and powerful a hypnotist he is and getting through-

It's an important distinction. You 𝘢𝘳𝘦 a plushy, if you only saw your reflection as an adult that wouldn't mark the day you got blue(or green or brown etc) eyes, just the day you learned that about yourself and maybe adjusted your online depiction to match.
