Had a bit of fun with the benchtop SEM this afternoon. That's crocus pollen on the left, tulip pollen on the right (so irregular in shape!), and tiny cyclamen pollen grains in between.
Pollen grains from crocus, cyclamen and tulip plants. The tulip pollen grains are irregular in shape. The cyclamen pollen grains are small and shaped like lemon pips with a furrow down the side. The crocus pollen grains are large spheres with lots of small evenly spaced projections.
