This explains my experience yesterday. I bought via the Uber app and it was very buggy. Also had difficulty finding my ticket once I'd bought it. This service would be much better run as a TfL concession with consistent fares and ticketing.

I noticed yesterday at Bankside Pier the publicity was minimising Oyster/contactless information. Then could not get fares on the TfL fare finder. Had the annoying feeling I was being ripped off. Although as it turned out for the journey and time of day it did not matter how I paid.

They've ended up in a situation where using contactless is sometimes cheaper and buying via the app is sometimes cheaper. Not great.

My one concession to all this, I have smart plug between the phone charger and the wall outlet. It turns off the power when the phone reaches 100% and turns it back on when I wake up.

As much as these topics matter to me, I can't help but conclude they fixate on these already solved problems (bus lanes make bus faster, 20mph kills fewer kids) to avoid having to tackle other problems that are more difficult.
