Got bored tonight and relearned a 10+ year old song that I’ve never played live

My introduction to @planningforburial.bsky.social was the song "Nightswimming" from this album. It's 8 minutes of perfect, droning ambience if you haven't had the pleasure of hearing it. Planning for Burial - Quietly (2018) #NowSpinning #VinylCommunity #FlenserFriday

I’ll admit maybe one of my favorite songs I’ve ever done

I just remembered I need to check my e-bow it had a slight fall during my drone set at Roadburn and didn’t work when I needed it to during the set.

Today’s #CDFriday is a special one for me, as I got this cd from the man himself, @planningforburial.bsky.social, while I was at Roadburn. Thom, thanks for everything, hope to see you again soon! Planning For Burial - Matawan Collected Works 2010-2014

Got home late last nighy, unloaded luggage/gear from my car and immediately put all my tool bags in. Now it’s 630am and I’m right back into work mode.

I don't know how to explain to the people who pop up when creatives complain about "AI" to say there are legit uses for it just how much they sound like someone saying "Well actually fire is used to make bread" when people are talking about an organized arson ring burning down their fucking houses

After Roadburn I don’t have a whole lot going on this summer so in between work and few beach trips I plan on going crazy old man and just mapping out the differences of all the big muff versions/variances I have

I’m know I’m middle aged now but hearing The Rapture’s “House of Jealous Lovers” playing at the grocery store during my snack run has me feeling geriatric

Watching a dvd of a band I was in college looking for some talking sections from my dead friend and damn I used to wear my guitar way too high

First bit of warm weather and sunshine and all of sudden I’m spending time in the basement working on my drone set for Roadburn.

The band I play drums in has a show exactly one week from today and my kit is still just piled up in my basement in the spot I brought it in after our last show around thanksgiving.

I’ll admit my mood lately is that I just want to cancel everything. I’m glad I went through with the set last night though felt good to just kinda pull something out of the air and make it work

I’m doing a hybrid quiet/drone set tonight. I haven’t practiced at all besides thumbing at my acoustic on the couch. Old stuff. This morning I decided to set up this semi-hollow that has only had 5 strings on it for a few years now to use tonight too.

Yeah I think overall I was pleasantly surprised by this, a few songs that weren’t as good as others but yeah.

Was just looking into it more and Trent gets exclusive producer credits but it seems two other guys actually produced it. It also features John 5 on guitar

It was released at the same time as when he came out and the press ran with that and I think the album fell to the wayside

Planning For Burial @planningforburial.bsky.social · 10/02/2026
It’s definitely on streaming services. The album is called Voyeurs and the band name is Two. Nu-metal isn’t quite the right term but it does skate the line

Planning For Burial @planningforburial.bsky.social · 10/02/2026
It also does that big thick guitars over big programmed beats with a lot of melody thing I love.

Planning For Burial @planningforburial.bsky.social · 10/02/2026
…That was released on nothing in 97/98 called Two. This would’ve been on heavy rotation back than if I grabbed it, a few songs in and it often reminds me of Failure

We have near the enture library of recorded music at our fingertips but I’m still pretty old school and won’t listen to something until I find a physical copy. Well nearly 30 years after hearing about it I’m finally listening to that Rob Halford nu-metal project….

Where I stored my gear in my parents basement at the time was near their coal stove and I even used covers to protect the gear but it still found its way in. Guess that was my way of saying I’m officially a NEPA resident.

Sweeping out the garage this morning before loading my gear for the show tonight and thought about how from late 2014 through 2017 there were times it looked like I had a hazer on stage but it was just my speakers pushing the coal dust off the cabs.

6: @planningforburial.bsky.social - It's Closeness, It's Easy planningforburial.bandcamp.com/album/its-cl... I love how Thom brought another dimension to the amazing warm embrace that is PfB. It's hopeful, and it's consoling, and it's escapism, and it's painful, and it's pure, iridescent beauty.

My only real goal this year was to play more shows than my personal best year which was 52 shows in 2014. Last night I tied it, which I’m gonna consider a win because 2014 was over an entire calendar year. I did this in just 6 months while also working the most amount of overtime I ever have before.

A counter point to yesterdays feeling that music stuck to me more when I was younger, is that I love listening to an album I just kinda liked enough when I was younger but listening now with years of experience behind me it just hits so much harder. Today for me that was Pulp’s This Is Hardcore.

I think a lot of this has to do with being still young and impressionable and things stuck a little more, and that’s not to say there hasn’t been albums I think are perfect since that age but yeah.
