Hubble Captures an Edge-On Spiral with Curve Appeal

This NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope image features a spiral galaxy, named UGC 10043. We don’t see the galaxy’s spiral arms because we are seeing it from the side. Located roughly 150 million light-years from Earth in the constellation Serpens, UGC 10043 is one of the somewhat rare spiral galaxies that we see edge-on.

Image of a star that exploded 320 years ago: Cassiopeia A (Infrared + X ray). This image was presented on AAS Nova today as JWST revealed new features in it. 🔭 🧪

This image of the famous supernova remnant Cassiopeia A combines X-ray, optical, and infrared observations. The new infrared data from JWST revealed fascinating structures. I was asked yesterday what my most romantic #mushroom was and these cultivated pink oysters are the winner. Just look at the gills, so enchanting. They are native to Asia. #fungus #oysters #photography #organic #fungifriends @thelesbianmama.bsky.social

Clean, high-resolution image of the deep universe from the previous post. 🔭 🧪

$Hundreds of galaxies appear in this view, which is set against the black background of space. There are many overlapping objects at various distances. They include large, blue foreground stars, some with eight diffraction spikes, and white and pink spiral and elliptical galaxies. Numerous tiny orange dots appear throughout the scene.$

Clearest view to date of Uranus' rings. 🔭 🧪

The planet Uranus on a black background. The planet appears blue with a large, white patch taking up the right half. The patch is whitest at the centre, then fades into blue as it expands from right to left. A thin outline of Uranus is also white. Around the planet is a system of nested rings. The outermost ring is the brightest while the innermost ring is the faintest. Unlike Saturn’s horizontal rings, the rings of Uranus are vertical and so they appear to surround the planet in an oval shape. There are 9 blueish white dots scattered around the rings.
