This looks like a great time. I'll have to see if I can make it work.

I need to find a way to browse my Instagram feed without getting alt-right or straight up racist garbage spewed at me. I like checking out new things but don't like that garbage.

I beat the main questline of Super Mario Wonder last night, and it feels like there's still a lot to get. I'll probably go back to it off and on, but time to shift to another game.

One of the weekend projects is getting my writing outlet / website online. Still haven't taken the roof rack off of the Ecto yet from DragonCon, but I may leave it a bit so some of the newer bits age a little. Come October, it'll be on all month anyway.

Backups tested successfully. I moved Proxmox to a new server and retired the previous one. I was back up and running in about 30 minutes or so. PBS for the win!

I mean, can't be much more clear than "as always, I'm Jeff".

Looks great! I'm a sucker for a good graph.

To the owner of a Ford F650 "pickup" truck. Why? Why do you need a tractor-trailer looking truck as a pickup truck? I'll never understand that.

Nope, it's still Lake Ontario, just like it's also still the Gulf of Mexico.

I'm an Arch user (yeah, yeah, stereotypes be damned) and I've had a few interactions where people told me Omarchy is just a better Arch. So, I downloaded it and tossed it on my laptop. Once I get my blog up and running this weekend, that's the topic of my first post.

Stress. The word of the weekend. Can it stop please?

I've been working on learning OpenSCAD and FreeCAD for 3D print designs. Slow going, but I'm managing it. Someone suggested Blender, so maybe I'll look at that too and see which one just clicks with me the best.

Got my homelab rack sorted out with some proper cooling, wiring and I documented it all. I plan on getting my website online so I can start writing about thingsike that again this weekend.

I was browsing eBay this evening as I'm looking to replace the current WiFi AP (I think the ole Asus is starting to show signs that it's giving up soon) and some of the sellers are in delulu land with their pricing. I'm not going to pay brand new prices for used. If I want that, I'll buy direct.

In other news, I finally have a mouse that works for me: Logitech MX Master 3S. Works fine in Linux and the bigger bonus is it fits my big hands and is comfortable. It's superceded by the Master 4 which I haven't tried and have no real need to. This one works.

Ecto care day today. I'm doing a front brake job and also a brake fluid flush. First time doing it myself but I'm pretty sure I can handle it.

000

Xanny @pkeblip.bsky.social · 18/07/2026

Yeah for some, Linux isn't an option and that's okay. I'm s big fan of the "use what works for you" philosophy.

Xanny @pkeblip.bsky.social · 18/07/2026

I've had good luck with MSI monitors. I do have a Windows install I use only for multiplayer games and these older LGs haven't pulled that on me yet. Now my Asus motherboard on the other hand, Windows saw that and decided to auto-install some crapware. Just one more reason I'm glad I ditched it.

Xanny @pkeblip.bsky.social · 18/07/2026

Just a heads up for those of you with LG TVs and monitors, especially if you bought them in the last couple of years.

000

Xanny @pkeblip.bsky.social · 18/07/2026

Remember the good old days where monitors and TVs were just used to display information and shows? I have a pair of LG monitors, between running Linux and having bought them 4 years ago, I haven't encountered this. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9ue...

Also, Linux gets the job done for me. Been using it professionally for about 20 years now at this point and I had gone back and forth running it as my main OS at home. I made the switch back in December and have been happy with the results.

Xanny @pkeblip.bsky.social · 02/07/2026

Taking another big step in my auto maintenance journey. I've ordered the parts to do a front brake job on the Ecto. I'm confident I can do it, but a little nervous. Parts will be here next week!

010

Xanny @pkeblip.bsky.social · 20/06/2026

It'll be a week tomorrow since my spawn moves two states away. Every now and then the feels hit hard. Apparently tonight's the night for that.

Xanny @pkeblip.bsky.social · 09/06/2026

Slowly but surely things are starting to align. Hopefully by this time next year I'll be pretty much debt-free and able to start getting my retirement fund sorted out. Also looking into investing among some other hobbies.

020

Xanny @pkeblip.bsky.social · 28/05/2026

You are correct! I'm about due for a rewatch of it.

120

Xanny @pkeblip.bsky.social · 18/05/2026

I took the Ecto to the dealership to get a software update because I couldn't do that. They found some work that needs done (that I already know about) and quoted me about a grand to do it all. The only thing I can't do is the alignment but I can do the front brakes and fluid swap myself.

Migrating my mail to ProtonMail and have started moving a lot of stuff into the homelab, given the current state of the US I'm trying to cover my bases.

I found my new favorite work trackball after a review of the Huge+ by @craftcomputing.bsky.social! Thanks for reviewing that, it's awesome and so much easier on my not-so-small hands.

Every time it gets to 39 degrees or below outside, the Ecto pops up a warning: "Ice may be present, drive with caution" Multiple meanings in this day and age, and based on reports from the Atlanta area, it's true in multiple ways. Stay safe out there.

Changing most of my social handles to 'PKEBlip', for reasons. Still the same Xanny, though!

This is excellent. I love the old-school 5150s, plenty of memories with them. Thanks for sharing the build, it looks amazing!

Grew up watching him on PBS when I was living in PA. RIP indeed.

I'm waiting for the aftermarket to come up with a clear-like case so I can re-live the glorious Mac cube days!

The looks I'm getting from some of these people in Waffle House is pretty hilarious. Yes I drive an Ecto. All the time. Judge all you want 😁

Successful backup test for my Proxmox VMs. Had to replace a drive and opted to do a fresh install and restore.

Initial thumbnail thought: Huh, that's a pretty neat idea! Post-video thought: Uh.. no thanks, especially at that price point.

What started as "Oh, I'll just run a small mini PC to serve as a playground and a NAS for my photo storage" has turned into a full-blown homelab hobby. I'm going to do a write-up and a Youtube video as an official channel re-launch soon once my rack arrives.

Fuck SCOTUS, fuck Republicans, and a big fuck you to the Orange Asshole. If you're Republican and you're still somehow in contact with me, leave. I find out, I'm blocking you. You've brought all this bullshit upon the rest of us, and I don't want to hear "I didn't know they were going to do that."

I finished up Doom: The Dark Ages tonight while waiting on work stuff to finish up. It was okay. To me it felt very repetitive. I'm glad I played it, but I'm also glad I played via Game Pass vs. buying it at full price. I would have been disappointed more if that were the case.

I use Mullvad. I'm gonna reach out again and see, but honestly losing the account isn't a big deal at this point.

Zero response from the ticket I opened. I'm just gonna chalk it up as a lost cause and move on.

If I get a response from them I'll post a follow up

That's the only thing remotely suspicious I've done. No warning or anything.
