Supreme Court must preserve protections against last-minute purges, advocates warn
The RNC and Trump DOJ contend that citizenship-based removals fall outside the NVRA’s protection. The voting rights groups responded that the argument misconstrues both the text and purpose of the law...

WOW. Kristi Noem and Elon Musk, among others, "chose to turn the power of the federal government against a singular employee with an impeccable record of public service. ... The attacks against Ms. Comans were based entirely on false information" and many officials "knew [they] were untrue."
In conducting this hearing, the Court is not called upon to resolve factual disputes between
the parties. The facts set forth in this Memorandum Opinion and Order were proposed by the
Plaintiff, unobjected to by the Government, and then deemed admitted by the Court. Dkts. 74, 75,
77.2 These facts establish that high-ranking government officials, including then Secretary of DHS
Kristi Noem and Elon Musk, engaged in a coordinated public relations campaign to impugn the
personal and professional integrity of Ms. Comans. For reasons unfathomable to this Court,
officials chose to turn the power of the federal government against a singular employee with an
impeccable record of public service. In short, Ms. Comans was professionally targeted and
personally attacked by government officials for no legitimate reason. The attacks against Ms.
Comans were based entirely on false information, and many government officials knew the
accusations were untrue at the time they were made. With no regard for the truth and with no
consideration for the personal and professional effect on Ms. Comans, government officials
exploited their access to mass media outlets to broadcast false information. These false
statements reached hundreds of millions of people. The purpose of this Order is, to the best of
this Court’s ability, to correct the public record and establish as a matter of law that the
statements made by these officials about Ms. Comans were objectively and demonstrably false.

4/ Ambassador Waltz in Nov 2024 interview with @steveinskeep.bsky.social: On how Trump's Ukraine policy would be different from Biden: Waltz: Trump is "very focused on ending the war ... First and foremost, you would enforce the actual energy sanctions on Russia." www.npr.org/2024/11/04/n...
INSKEEP: Got it. There are some people on the progressive left who have said things like that from time to time. Now, your specialty is foreign policy. I'd like to ask, what do you believe that former President Trump would do differently than the Biden administration has on Ukraine? He has said he would end the war in 24 hours. What does that mean?

WALTZ: Well, he's very focused on ending the war rather than perpetuating it and - you know, and really crafting a strategy to get both sides to the table. I think it's perfectly reasonable that this is going to come to some type of diplomatic resolution.

And first and foremost, you would enforce the actual energy sanctions on Russia. Russia is essentially a gas station with nukes. Putin is selling more oil and gas now than he did prewar through China and Russia. And you couple that with unleashing our energy, lifting our LNG ban, and his economy and his war machine will dry up very quickly. I just spoke with the speaker of the Parliament of Lithuania. She buys 85% of their oil and gas from Texas and Louisiana. She said, what do you want me to do? Go back to buying from Russia? - because we've constrained our energy supplies.

3/ Secretary Marco Rubio on Fox News: Criticizing India's purchasing of Russian oil because "that is helping to sustain the Russian war effort ... in essence is helping to fund the war effort ... and allowing this war to continue in Ukraine."
SECRETARY RUBIO: Look, global trade – India is an ally. It’s a strategic partner. Like anything in foreign policy, you’re not going to align a hundred percent of the time on everything. India has huge energy needs and that includes the ability to buy oil and coal and gas and things that it needs to power its economy like every country does, and it buys it from Russia, because Russian oil is sanctioned and cheap and – meaning they have to – in many cases, they’re selling it under the global price because of the sanctions.

QUESTION: Yeah.

SECRETARY RUBIO: And that – unfortunately that is helping to sustain the Russian war effort. So it is most certainly a point of irritation in our relationship with India – not the only point of irritation. We also have many other points of cooperation with them. But I think what you’re seeing the President express is the very clear frustration that with so many other oil vendors available, India continues to buy so much from Russia, which in essence is helping to fund the war effort —

QUESTION: Right.

SECRETARY RUBIO: — and allowing this war to continue in Ukraine.

2/ U.S. Intelligence Community’s Annual Threat Assessment (March 2026) saying that China's imports of Russian oil supports Kremlins ability to sustain war in Ukraine ⤵️ www.intelligence.senate.gov/wp-content/u...
China’s engagement with Russia substantially strengthens Moscow’s ability to sustain the war in Ukraine and resist external pressure. China’s imports of Russian oil and natural gas provide key sources of revenue for Moscow, helping it weather international sanctions. China’s exports of dual-use goods and technology to Russia help sustain Moscow’s defense production while reducing its incentives to reach a cease-fire in Ukraine.
