JP @pixelpaperyarn.bsky.social · 07/10/2026If I could change just one thing about Bluesky, it would be a 500 character limit instead of 300. Just that little bit extra to get a full thought out instead of threading. 000
JP @pixelpaperyarn.bsky.social · 07/10/2026But I'm reinventing my whole writing process now, so it may not stay this way. 000
JP @pixelpaperyarn.bsky.social · 07/10/2026#WritersCoffeeClub Oct 7: Does your editing process tend towards addition or reduction? Mostly addition At least historically. A sketchy version, dialogue and scene directions. A few little details here and there. First round of editing is about putting flesh on those bones. 100
JP @pixelpaperyarn.bsky.social · 02/10/2026I have a story out now in "Short Lived Nightmares", a horror zine! (links to come) Gonna use this as motivation for getting my physical zines up for sale on my site. I'll let you all know when I have copies ready. (I'll do digital downloads, too) 010
JP @pixelpaperyarn.bsky.social · 02/10/2026That makes a lot of sense. First I gotta write the things, but I'm thinking about this in the background and other perspectives really help. 010
JP @pixelpaperyarn.bsky.social · 02/10/2026This is my first year balancing post-season baseball with the upcoming PWHL season. Baseball and I are old friends, hockey and I are just getting acquainted. It's kinda wild but also really fits autumnal vibes that something so summer-oriented is crossing paths with thoroughly winter-centric stuff. 000
JP @pixelpaperyarn.bsky.social · 02/10/2026That means building a whole new social media presence and readership. Sounds like a lot of work! For anyone using a pen name and willing to share: do you tell your readers you're using one so they can find your other work, or is it anonymous? How do you manage that? 110
JP @pixelpaperyarn.bsky.social · 02/10/2026#ScribesAndMakers 2Oct—Do you think it's important for authors to use different pen names for different genres? This is something I'm actively struggling with. I don't particularly want to, but I can see a situation where it may be useful. 120
JP @pixelpaperyarn.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Hmm, the closest I can come up with vibe-wise for the "Take On Me" cast is Heated Rivalry, but not the hockey parts. They would be besties with the gang at the Kingfisher in episode 3. Otherwise, they'd fit best with the Ted Lasso gang. #LitHodgepodge 2 #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompts #WriteSky 1101
JP @pixelpaperyarn.bsky.social · 02/10/2026#WritersCoffeeClub Oct 2: Do you have plans for your next work yet? Sort of? There's a lot of thinking going on, about the characters and what the shape of the book might look like. Nothing formal yet. 000
JP @pixelpaperyarn.bsky.social · 01/10/2026#WritersCoffeeClub Oct 1: What are you hoping to achieve this month? Get my existing writing organized. Edit just one drabble into something publishable. Keeping it simple while I'm still onboarding at my new job. 000
JP @pixelpaperyarn.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Hi! I'm JP. I write mostly fantasy (some of it in outer space) and contemporary fiction, dipping my toe into romance writing. This was really hard because with so many of these, it depends! Reformed pantser, now a plotter, working towards slow craft. #LitHodgePodge 1 #WriteSky #WritingCommunity 080
JP @pixelpaperyarn.bsky.social · 01/10/2026I think I know which projects are going to be the ones that pull me in the most to keep working on, but we'll see. I bought myself a 12 pack of steno notebooks to facilitate the blueprinting. This is the kind of thing that, for me, benefits from thinking on paper. 000
JP @pixelpaperyarn.bsky.social · 01/10/2026My current writing plan is to work my way through the rest of "Story Genius", which is truly transforming how I'm approaching my writing. Then I'm going to take all my major works in progress and put them through the SG blueprint process. #amwriting 110
JP @pixelpaperyarn.bsky.social · 29/09/2026i have some correspondence to do this week and am thinking of setting a small goal for the coming week: edit one drabble. 000
JP @pixelpaperyarn.bsky.social · 29/09/2026i have a couple books i need to pick back up and read (one on storytelling/writing, one is reference for a book i want to write) that will hopefully build some foundation for future work. 110
JP @pixelpaperyarn.bsky.social · 29/09/2026now that work is slowly settling into place and the household is starting to find its autumnal rhythm, i'm hoping to start getting work done. 100
JP @pixelpaperyarn.bsky.social · 28/09/2026Lots of tech glitches and general obstacles everywhere I turn. This is Mercury retrograde-level weirdness, but it is not, in fact, in retrograde. So wtf? Just knocking them down as they come at me. My life is currently an endless runner game. 000
JP @pixelpaperyarn.bsky.social · 24/09/2026#WritersCoffeeClub Sep 24. Do you write primarily for yourself or for a reader? Both. Myself to get the story out of my head and at least one particular reader so I have reason to refine it into something to share. 000

JP @pixelpaperyarn.bsky.social · 21/09/2026#WritersCoffeeClub Sep 21 - What can a reader know to be true about you from your work? I really love music, tea, and would maybe like to have a dog one day. I'm also (I'm told) exceedingly kind but not a pushover. 000

JP @pixelpaperyarn.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Leaving last year was the right thing to do at the time. I've had what I'm calling a "gap year". I tried different things that didn't quite fit or work out. I learned lots about what I don't want, which is extremely valuable. I also learned a bit about what I do want. This is a bit like going home. 000
JP @pixelpaperyarn.bsky.social · 10/09/2026It's going to be lovely not only having good insurance and PTO again (and a manager, I missed that!) but also getting to work with some truly awesome people. This came together REALLY FAST, like since last Tuesday. 🎉 2/2 110
