David C James @pixelhunted.bsky.social · 19/02/2025Sad to report that my beloved launch #PlayStation 3 with PS2 backwards compatibility has finally died... Rest easy big guy. 110
David C James @pixelhunted.bsky.social · 19/02/2025Beat the #Forspoken In Tanta We Trust DLC: Still think this game was unfairly maligned and revisiting it after a few years via this DLC cemented that. Hyper-agile combat and movement nails it for me and I like the world. Also, I think Frey is a good, well-written character. So there. 020
David C James @pixelhunted.bsky.social · 18/02/2025After Assassin's Creed Valhalla's nightmare skill tree, Mirage is a real breath of fresh air.. 010
David C James @pixelhunted.bsky.social · 18/02/2025Beat Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney! Been meaning to play one of these games for years and it was exactly as delightful as I'd hoped. The absolute highlight was getting a parrot on the stand to testify. Case 5 was a bit of a slog though. #phoenixwright #capcom 000
David C James @pixelhunted.bsky.social · 12/02/2025Beat #FinalFantasy XVI's The Rising Tide DLC: Fun to revisit the game after so long. Compact story, the frozen-in-time scenery was rad, and it ended with an actually challenging Eikon fight. Good stuff. 010
David C James @pixelhunted.bsky.social · 05/02/2025Beat the #Avatar #FrontiersofPandora Secrets of the Spires DLC. Still think this game got unfairly dismissed and overlooked as it's pretty fun and mostly absent the usual Ubisoft bloat. Also the final DLC focusing on air combat meant the already amazing graphics really shine with huge vistas. 000
David C James @pixelhunted.bsky.social · 04/02/2025Seems like an unnecessary fire risk in a village entirely made out of bamboo #indianajonesandthegreatcircle 010

David C James @pixelhunted.bsky.social · 29/01/2025Beat Rez Infinite on #MetaQuest3. Been playing this game ever since #Dreamcast and it's still amazing. Had already played VR Rez on #PSVR in 2016, but the increased resolution and better tracking made this the definitive experience. Looking forward to buying it again in future! #Rez #RezInfinite 111
David C James @pixelhunted.bsky.social · 28/01/2025#TwinPeaks cutting from Leland Palmer/Bob going completely bonkers to Andy/Lucy/Dick figuring out how her pregnancy is going to work was awesome. But then I realize Dick's cigarette setting off the smoke alarm how Bob escapes, and Dick starts that by saying THIS!? Argghhhh! #DavidLynch 000
David C James @pixelhunted.bsky.social · 27/01/2025Beat Silent Hill 4: The Room. A bunch of interesting ideas, but fails to execute any of them well. Sound effects were also real bad, burping patients obvs a low point but general atmos was poor. Also spending half the game dragging an AI partner about was annoying. #SilentHill #SilentHil4 000
David C James @pixelhunted.bsky.social · 25/01/2025Beat Monument Valley 3. Over the entire MW trilogy there's never been a genuinely tricky puzzle, but it provides pretty colours and relaxing music that makes my commute more relaxing, so a net win. #MonumentValley3 000
David C James @pixelhunted.bsky.social · 24/01/2025Beat Twin Peaks VR. Wasn't expecting much but still left disappointed as it's just an hour-long 'experience' more than a game and doesn't capture the show's mood. Sad there's not a proper #DavidLynch VR game as he'd have nailed it. Also, it didn't play well with SteamVR linked to Quest 3. #TwinPeaks 030
David C James @pixelhunted.bsky.social · 24/01/2025Sheriff Truman you're acting very un #TwinPeaks right now. How could you say this to Coop! 💔 000
David C James @pixelhunted.bsky.social · 23/01/2025Beat Knuckles Chaotix. The core idea of Sonic platforming with two characters elastic banded together fundamentally doesn't work. Easy to see why it got shoved off into #32X obscurity. Bonus stages were fun though. #Knuckles #Chaotix #SonictheHedgehog 010
David C James @pixelhunted.bsky.social · 23/01/2025Beat #Venba. Left me feeling pleased I'd already managed to make idli and hopeful that one day I will successfully make dosa. A pleasant, touching, and concise narrative cooking experience. @visaigames.bsky.social 052
David C James @pixelhunted.bsky.social · 22/01/2025Beat #AssassinsCreedNexus on #MetaQuest3S. Goodto play a fully realized VR game, though I would have subbed out Connor for pretty much any other assassin and was disappointed I didn't get to explore the Parthenon in VR. Climbing and parkour v fun though! 000
David C James @pixelhunted.bsky.social · 21/01/2025Finished #BaldursGate3. Prooobably should have gotten to it much sooner as it was as amazing as everyone said. Also played the entire thing via streaming on #GeForceNow, which convinced me that fancy overheating gaming laptops are a waste of money. 010
David C James @pixelhunted.bsky.social · 15/01/2025Two decades ago I asked #NeilGaiman a question at a Q&A. He made fun of me and all the hot goth girls laughed. Who's laughing now, dickhead? 110
David C James @pixelhunted.bsky.social · 13/01/2025Every time I remember the existence of this show it cracks me up. 000
David C James @pixelhunted.bsky.social · 17/12/2024My review of #AttackonTitan VR @gamesfreezer.bsky.social A disappointing VR game that left a trail of shattered ornaments, injured fingers and a justifiably miffed girlfriend www.gamesfreezer.co.uk/2024/12/atta...gamesfreezer.co.ukAttack on Titan VR: Unbreakable Meta Quest 3 Review 3/10 "Broken blades won’t do in battle!" 🪝 @UNIVRSstudios #IndieGame #GameDevIf you’re a die-hard Attack on Titan superfan then maybe the base thrill of swooping around and fighting titans will be enough to justify a purchase. 011
David C James @pixelhunted.bsky.social · 14/12/2024Beat #Castlevania Judgment. Frustrating because there' potential but it's so underbaked. Some of the most shallow fighting game mechanics I've ever seen and the character redesigns are awful. Maybe with a higher budget and more time and it could have been something special... 010
David C James @pixelhunted.bsky.social · 09/12/2024Arghhh I FINALLY got the childish joke in the title of #RatchetAndClank Rift Apart... 000

David C James @pixelhunted.bsky.social · 03/12/2024Might try a project to spend zero money on games in 2025. Between review copies, game giveaways and my ridiculous Steam/PS Plus backlog I reckon I could do it. Only wrinkle is that I reeeally want a Switch 2 when it comes out. 000

David C James @pixelhunted.bsky.social · 01/12/2024Beat #Castlevania 64! On my quest to complete every Castlevania game I told myself playing Legacy of Darkness would do. David C James @pixelhunted.bsky.social · 27/11/2024I beat #VampireKiller on the #MSX! Once I got over the wonky controls I had a lot of fun. I love the mechanic that you have to catch boomeranging projectiles or lose them for good. Totally different from the #NES #Castlevania too. Probably should have been in the Anniversary Collection. 183
David C James @pixelhunted.bsky.social · 24/11/2024Beat #TheRiseoftheGoldenIdol and had an absolute blast. So satisfying to puzzle through, perhaps the game that makes me feel most like a genius. Great sequel that also stands alone and a massive recommend to anyone that's curious #goldenidol 000

David C James @pixelhunted.bsky.social · 21/11/2024#Castlevania Chronicles was alright I guess. Nice pixel-art and great remixed music. Trying to beat this without save states would have been brutal though... Got there in the end though, just a few more Castlevania's to go and I've played them all! 193
