Got all the edge banding glued onto the two desk tops... which means all the gluing is done for this project. This Saturday will be a day of planing and sanding... followed (I hope) by a week of applying the finish.

Two rectangular desktops with figured Sapele in the center surrounded by a thin Ebony strip and a wider quartersawn Sapele strip.

I'm playing this game in real life as I'm trying to reorganize my library. 😅

I've been working on a matching pair of small desks for my daughter and her fiance. Finally got to glue up the bases today. Next week, I'll start on the desktops. Here's one of the bases. Lots of sanding in my future! 😅 #woodworking #GreenLionWoodworks #furniture

My wife laser cut my logo for me and I painted the mane green. It's 10" in diameter and is going to go on the front of my shop cabinet that holds finishing supplies. #woodworking #GreenLionWoodworks

Finally got in a good kayaking session this morning. It was overcast, which I like, and in the mid 60's (Fahrenheit), which I also like. Little bit of breeze, too. Went 4.3 miles in about 1.5 hours. My new kayak glides through the water easier than my other kayaks. #kayaks #kayaking

Working on making a Mancala board with a live edge Maple slab... that I bought about 3 years ago for just this purpose. Let nobody accuse me of not being a good procrastinator! 😅 Had to widen it a bit with a strip of Sapele. #woodworking

Houdini has decided that THIS bed, which we've had for at least 10 years and has never been used more than twice, is now his favorite bed. He can do what he wants. He turned 18 a few months ago, so we support any and all of his preferences now. 😉❤️ #cats

Scored big at the Midtown Scholar bookstore in Harrisburg, PA with TWO autographed @scalzi.com books! I already have the audiobooks, but I'm a sucker for autographed versions!

Two books, both by John Scalzi... Starter Villian and When the Moon Hits Your Eye. A sticker on the front of each indicates they are signed editions.

It's been about six weeks since I had to euthanize my 16-year-old cat, Chexie. I find I still can't talk about her for more than a sentence without getting choked up, but I finally finished her cremation box and her remains are now safely inside. #cats #woodworking #boxes

Happy Friday, folks! Have a great weekend! I've got some woodworking planned for tomorrow and some D&D planned for Sunday. Should be a good weekend!

I had to have my little cat Chexie euthanized on Tuesday. I got to spend 16 wonderful years with her and, in all my time living with cats, I've never been more attached to a cat than I was to her. Still having a rough time keeping my shit together. Pretty sure I'll miss her forever. #cats #catdad

First paddle of the season for me. I didn't get out much last year, but I intend to make up for that this year. I need both the exercise and the serenity. #kayaking #kayak

25 years ago, I built this cradle for my daughter right before she was born. All I had was a circular saw, a jigsaw, a drill, and a whole bunch of red oak from a big box store. Today it gets passed on to my niece who is having her first baby next month. ❤️ #woodworking

This is one of my favorite pictures of Milo. It's from last summer. He's just hanging out on a landscaping rock amongst the bushes next to the house and totally looks like it's all his domain. The rock was all sun-warmed and perfectly shaped to hold his chonkness. #cats

Making some progress on my new tool wall, part of a big shop re-org/remodel. It feels like I'm not making stuff, though. I'm making a nice environment to make stuff, which is fun for awhile, but I'm tired of it now. I want to make actual stuff. 😉 #woodworking

Milo went out in the catio to keep a closer eye on the birds, but they flew away (of course). But he still sat there for a good 5 minutes or so in the snow... waiting for their return. I think some of them did return, but by that time, he was all, "This sucks" and came back inside.

I finally completed the standing desk project I've been working on since late August. Big sense of relief. It's almost all maple (except for the veneer substrates). I used Sutherland Welles wiping varnish for the finish. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, but I'm glad it's done. #woodworking

Finally got the standing desk project "completed"... fully constructed and assembled. Then I had to disassemble it to apply the finish. Here's the desktop after the first coat of finish... and this is also the reason why finishing is my favorite part of a project. :-) #woodworking

I'm working on a standing desk for my sister-in-law right now. It's all made from hard maple. I'm in the home stretch and yesterday I put together the drawer front with a custom pull. The drawer is housed in (what will be) a floating drawer box. #woodworking

Well, I guess I should post something on here to show I'm not a bot with a nonsense profile. So here are a few pictures of the library I built all tarted up for Christmas... mostly showing the tarting rather than the library proper.
