When an artist who inspires you turns out to be a rapist, your response cannot be to stop making art. Reject them, their work, the parts of them you once emulated, but don’t stop. It wasn’t their crime that inspired you. Make the things they made you want to make. Fuck them; keep the inspiration.

The deeper I get into my Twitter dissertation chapter the stronger my conviction gets that we need to stop entertaining this perfect-Twitter fantasy as if someday the tech geniuses will finally tinker with it long enough that they do indeed produce the automatic rational discourse machine. 1/4

I think they liked one of my TCD response vids actually! but they hated the ones critical of Hogwarts Legacy. they’ve clearly rolled a pretty unique build

there’s a YouTube user who’s clearly been going through my back catalog for the last day or two & they’re leaving comments on everything they watch, and those comments are veering wildly between effusively positive and borderline abusive why do people do this? very strange behaviour

If somebody came to one of my writing classes with a novel about a “24-year-old wunderkind” on Wall Street called Leopold Aschenbrenner who graduated from Columbia aged 19, looked and dressed exactly like this, and crashed the stock market, I’d advise them to tone it down a bit

my main takeaway from this video’s reception (besides the fact that I should double check whether the CC uploads properly before going away) is that are *wayyy* more Bicameral Consciousness stans out there than I’d realised

Dane’s channel has been a helpful resource for a lot of the work I’ve done on my channel pushing back against culture warriors, especially the ‘grifterverse’ series. If you value(d) those videos and you’re in a good spot money-wise, please do take a look at this link.

this video beautifully depicts the kind of culture shock I experienced when I left catholic school to study latin (a past life, indeed lmao) and very quickly realized that what I had signed up for was millenia worth of nonsense interpretations the likes of which we call "fandom drama" today
