The shocking state of Kenneth Budd's fine "Horsefair 1908" mural in Birmingham; many pieces of which are lying on the ground below the work (and far more missing completely). Seen yesterday. Birmingham City Council are responsible for its upkeep.
An area of mural, about bout 3m tall by 4m, 40% of whose 1cm tesserae (tiles) are missing. Several tesserae are lying on the floor. The remaining parts depict the front end of a horse and a crowd of people.

These wonderful illustrations are from one of three volumes, titled 'Fungi Collected in Shropshire and other Neighbourhoods', compiled 1862-1902 by M.F. Lewis, aka "Miss Lewis". [Link in reply] Nobody knows who she was, nor anything else about her. The answers must be out there somewhere!

This is BY FAR the best Cheddar I've found. Sharp as a razor blade, yet very competitively priced. And, unlike other popular (and supermarket-own) brands, unerringly consistent in quality. Ignore the best-before date, it never lasts that long in my house! 👏👏👏
