Theoretical physicists have explored many speculative ideas to explain how our universe works. The current rage is holography, which suggests that the physical world we live in is not real—it's just a projection of information imprinted on the surface that bounds our universe. #cosmology

Gravity Seems Holographic. What Does That Mean for Reality? | Quanta Magazine
The biggest breakthrough in modern theoretical physics is the discovery that gravity can collapse the dimensions of space. Physicists don’t yet understand the implications.

On this day in 1962, Alouette 1 was launched. It was the first Canadian satellite, and the first satellite not constructed by the USA or Soviet Union. Launched to investigate the ionosphere, the mission lasted for 10 years but the satellite will remain in orbit for 1000 years.

Do gravitational waves show evidence of wave-particle duality? If they did, we would have evidence for a quantum theory of gravity. Our current instruments can detect gravitational waves, but finding those hypothetical particles, dubbed gravitons, is a much more difficult challenge.

Do gravitational waves show evidence of wave-particle duality?
All matter particles can act as waves, and massless light waves show particle-like behavior. Can gravitational waves also be particle-like?
