Speaking of halfway up, I'm reminded of the Necropolis. Don't the Dwarfs run into the Zombies before they get to the surface? Is there a "Made in Abyss" style layer map of your world? Or, could make it "Simpsons" style, with just a bunch of visual gags all the way down. Also, Salt is super cute.
