Ancient Egyptian ladies wore perfumed wax cones on their heads, so when the party waxed & their body temperature increased, the wax perfume would melt on their hair (and work its way downwards).

#ShakespeareSunday VIOLA: Make me a willow cabin at your gate, And call upon my soul within the house; Write loyal cantons of contemnèd love And sing them loud even in the dead of night; Halloo your name to the reverberate hills And make the babbling gossip of the air Cry out 'Olivia!' TN I.5
When I played Viola, many years ago, I could not quite envision a "willow cabin." Now I can. In the play, Viola, disguised as Caesario, the Duke Orsino's page, comes to tell the Lady Olivia of Orsino's love. 'Caesario"'tells Olivia that if 'he' were wooing her, not take "no" for an answer.
The language is so beautiful in this speech with its alliteration, consonance & sibilance (e.g. 'reverberate', 'babbling' and 'gossip'). One can almost hear the breezes whispering Olivia's name. It is one of my favourite speeches in Shakespeare's comedies—the theme for this week's #ShakespeareSunday.

Autumn in St Paul, MN. A literal image of Shakespeare's personification, "Childing Autumn", the abundance of the harvest. The speech belongs to Titania.

the spring, the summer,
The childing autumn, angry winter, change
Their wonted liveries, and the mazed world,
By their increase, now knows not which is which:Children seem to enjoy jumping among the autumn leaves and burying themselves in piles of them.

He must have sketched it. The cone was much higher then. After the big one, Vesuvius was active in the 18th century, when the dome became more pointy. It erupted again during WWII (1944) & left the lava dome we see today. Me inside crater🙀(Feb. 1982 My 📸). Click photo #2, to see rim of crater.

One is walking on movable rocks. It was freezing, and I was glad I was wearing my heavy Canadian sweater/jumper. Yes, that's snow inside the crater and on the rim at the top. All, except Maria, are focused on Malvolio; Maria seems to be flirting with the artist, George Clint. "Sir Toby & Malvolio", 1833. The ophidification of Medusa's hair by the Eagles of Zeus— her punishment for having been violated by Poseidon🙄). If I recall correctly, it was part of a huge bronze door knocker. It definitely decorated the Golden House of the Emperor Nero (Apropos😼). [64-68 CE]

There's another similarity between the San Donato & San Marco floorings: the black & white mosaic squares alternating with squares of marble. I wonder if it's the same mosaicist. You know everyone is dazzled by the mosaics on the ceiling that they don't notice the striking mosaics on the floor.
