Thawing permafrost could cause up to $51 billion in damage to Alaska’s buildings and roads. Engineers are using drones and digital models to spot sinking ground (and potential damage!) before it happens.

Arctic infrastructure was built on frozen ground – drones and digital twins can help spot the permafrost thaw coming
A regional permafrost map can’t tell a builder if a particular foundation or road will survive as temperatures rise. Engineers need to see beneath the surface to find the weaknesses.

Some thoughts on the Cornell rapists I posted on Instagram
And every woman has a story - Every. Fucking. Woman.

Every woman has many stories. I've been assaulted. I've taken expensive Ubers rather than transit for my safety. I've changed my outfit before leaving the house, and I've stopped wearing certain outfits after being catcalled too much. I've been chased by an angry man. I've shared my location with multiple people and checked in when I arrived home. Just last week, I walked into a dark, empty restroom and instinctively checked the other stalls. This is just a tiny fraction of the stories from one woman - now multiply this by all the women in your life, all of the women on this planet.
We need to not only teach our men to not rape and assault, but we need to teach our men to call out other men on their horrific behavior. It was those seven men, but it was also everyone in that group chat and who heard about it who did nothing.

This serves as advertisement for Alex Gibney’s documentary, Musk, opening October 9. Pass it on.

YouTube, TikTok and Meta have all turned down the trailer for the Oct. 9 doc, citing “political” content. X won't even take Bleecker Street's calls. The distributor is appealing.

Interesting. Nice change of pace! I have to say though, I do not remotely believe that the 92’ luxury yacht Dauntless only cost $1.6M. Or that a similar Canadian boat was 1/3rd the cost.

Fairbanks:
This is a facebook post from Danielle Gammon. She reports her daughter Alice is missing. That she had breakfast at Tanana Middle School and then apparently left. Alice is 12, about 5'2" and 100 lbs. she was wearing a light blue hoodie and light pink glasses that look almost clear. They have filed a police report and checked at both youth shelters.

Well that’s a safe bet, hopefully they don’t charge you too much! In the meantime, every house should have something like this. If you go to a Lowes and ask, they should have a couple options. $100 is the max I would spend for this tier.

Henry @phrozen.com · 22/09/2026
Should be, yes.

Henry @phrozen.com · 22/09/2026
I zoomed in and there are screws. If you have a flathead screwdriver, remove those and the knob should come off allowing you to open the door.
110
Henry @phrozen.com · 22/09/2026
How desperate is this? If you remove the knob, you should be able to manipulate the inner latch. But there are no visible screws, so removing the knob will require destructive effort. Assuming the knob is actually locked and not just stuck?
