Went to get gas for my economical Rav4 this morning. Price of 87 octane regular here in the East Valley, Phoenix area: Today $4.70 Ten days ago $3.40 Up 28%. US based Oil & Gas companies are going to have a nice uptick in profit this quarter. Summer vacation, stay at home, or pay the piper?

Last January 2025, the market price of oil was $75 to $80 a barrel. Now, oil is $56 a barrel. And the MAGA world is all excited about Venezuelan heavy crude, which most US refineries can't handle. Wait 'til they find out the huge Venezuelan oil reserve number is totally made up. Stupid times.

A data point for my Bluesky feed: I went on the ACA health insurance website site to take a gander at the 2026 premium for my wife. It's a regular Silver plan. 2025 $635 per month 2026 $1228 per month (same plan) or $915 cheapest Bronze plan Self insuring, maybe. A roll of the dice.

I was on a grand jury in NY State. We had a pretty wild murder case. We learned nothing of the accused man's friends or associates. It wasn't needed to secure a "true bill". That is why releasing the SDNY grand jury transcripts for Epstein's indictment is a big fat red herring.
