🌟 Perceived effectiveness: Despite low engagement with videos once captured, the perceived effectiveness was promising. Participants felt that videos could support improved interprofessional communication, clinical assessment quality, and continuity of care across different teams 5/

⁉️ Feasibility: Implementation within the acute hospital setting presented some challenges. Busy ward environments and scheduling conflicts made it difficult to capture patient videos. Upon video capture, we found low overall engagement: staff didn’t always watch videos once they were uploaded 4/

✅ Acceptability: Most participating patients, carers, and acute hospital ward staff found the intervention to be highly acceptable. Participants felt that so long as privacy safeguards and dignity were maintained, video-based records could provide a more person-centered view of the patient 3/

⚠️ The problem: clinical notes or verbal handovers seldom capture the nuance of a person's functional abilities. In this pilot study, video-recordings of individual participating patients were embedded securely into the electronic patient record (e.g. to show mobility baseline or support needs) 2/

A copy of the book 'Recalibrating Stigma: sociologies of health and illness' edited by Gareth M. Thomas, Oli Williams, Tanisha Spratt, and Amy Chandler. The front cover of the book depicts a person out at night, lit by the light from a lamppost and looking at posters pasted onto a brick wall that are in the style of the 'WANTED' posters famously associated with the Wild West era of American history. The word 'UNWANTED' has replaced the word 'WANTED'.
