this was difficult to read, but it's important to know people are currently in prison for 50+ years for attending a protest + one wasn't even at the protest, but got sentenced for 30 years for "concealing" anarchist zines

also just as I go to use it tonight and NONE of the things that got it working yesterday worked now Im reminded that getting it to work with a pc is FUCKING NIGHTMARE and every time I try to use a vr headset you spend hours setting it up every single time. broken each session, fml

YES Plus the environments make it so there is just one obv solution solved with waiting.

Direly hoping I can land a steam frame though, would love to escape meta ecosystem. Really dont want to use it to make art as Im sure that gets scraped.

so with drawing I can see fine if I hunch over and put my eyes right within 10 inches or less of the page which obv is really fucking up my body. VR has always been nice because the screens are right there so I dont actually have to focus regardless of distance but still get depth? magical.

Phobia @phobia.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

trying to setup vr for drawing, would really help to just expand a big screen at any position I want and draw without craning my neck. I just have a wildly off center focal point which gets worse as things get farther away then past ten feet my right eye takes all the weight and I can see well again

Played a lil bit of No Mans Sky in vr and I think that is what is finally gonna get it to click for me.

They are so spooky moving out in the distant fog but yeah a little plain up close. The give me the most chills laying dead on the ground and that is something.

Phobia @phobia.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

Yes that was amazing, but you are spot on as it does a lot to make that interesting. Townfall def just has the most basic mechanics for it.

I will say the most I ever enjoyed this gameplay was playing Amnesia for a group of gals during a late October night and just playing like a director edging out the monster attention to elicit gasps and screams.

Looks like there is a mod to just make enemies ignore you like SOMA which made that game 10x better too.

Phobia @phobia.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

I think the whole "sit crouched for minutes" gameplay wore out for me after the Amnesia games. I really do adore every other part of the game but the stealth sections have zero horror or fun. It feels the same way an ad in the middle of a horror movie would suck me right out of the moment.

Also playing on TV with a controller and it's just atrocious for that. All the ui or text takes up as little space as possible making it a pain to read, a pain to target items. Again adding to the tedium. Like I'm very invested in the story and setting but the game gets in the way constantly.

Only part way through Townfall but so far it's wildly impressive in detail and immersion and atmosphere. Just find the gameplay part too tedious to be scary. The exact second I have to watch a monster cycle it's movement path so I can sneak past all the horror vanishes, replaced by boredom.

You cannot "queer" fascist media, no amount of transing characters' genders will make the media stop being fascist or make fanart stop being a celebration of it.

Something AI is responsible for that doesn't get enough talk: How, when it scrapes a website to illegally steal everything on it, it uses up a ton of its bandwidth allotment, crashing it or racking up massive fees for site owners.

I have felt compelled to make a teeny celebratory fanart since I saw this post, ep 2 isn't out yet but I know in my heart of hearts that the way bunliths ears flop around is really cute :]

A mostly monochrome sketch of Bunlith, the Witch Upstairs, a bunny girl with delightful floppy ears and a witch hat whose underside looks like space. Her ears are flippity flopping very fetchingly.

As all the mechanics in my life I know hit their thirties they have either figured out how to get their way to running a shop/management, or their bodies are breaking. To make a living with manual labor in this country is to destroy your body and receive a societal shrug when you’re disabled.
