"I really wasn't expecting robot Rasputin from the future's heal face turn" This is why I enjoy Shin Megami Tensei games so much

Some of my friends do a lot of second hand book shopping, my favourite fantasy author Tanith Lee is basically out of print. But they've helped me put together quite the collection

Listening to Reek of Putrefaction with the windows open (it's very warm). The album comes to the end and I realise there are some teenager drinking in the park next door listening to chilled out vapour wave. Sorry for ruining the vibe with my old man music

The excellent Purgatory Aftershow podcast very kindly featured Esca on their latest episode. Please check it out, this is a great show covering a lot of really cool new releases!

Starting a new army and trying to choose a colour scheme, which of these works best?

Went to see Angel's Egg at the cinema earlier unfortunately a person sat in front of me and spent the whole film complaining they didn't get it, "that was just nonsense". I feel watching Angel's Egg and complaining it's abstract is like watching The Avengers and complaining superheroes are in it.

I'm so sick of the entire conversation about grindcore being that all the bands play really short songs "Oh Napalm Death have got a 30 minute set so they'll only be able to play 100 songs in it" So I've done some very pointless calculations.

Table of Napalm Death albums showing album length in minutes vs number of songs. The average song length is in number form rather than seconds because I'm lazy

I've kept this very quiet but my band Esca have been working on our debut album for over a year now and it's finally ready for release. I'm incredibly proud of it, and would really like it if you could all give it a listen! escaband.bandcamp.com/album/thalas...

This series is incredible, very in depth biographical videos that give such a deep insight in films and many other things. It's a hard thing to summarise, but I promise if you like the more esoteric end of cinema you'll get so much out of this series.

Just played Metal Garden a short FPS from last year, it's only about 3 hours long but so worth it. Game play reminded me of Half Life 2 with an interesting story reministant of Blame! with this super atmospheric visual style that felt very Tarkovsky inspired. Really impressive stuff for a solo dev

This new split from I, Voidhanger is so good, four bands each bringing an epic 20 minute track, as well as sharing vocalists between bands to really unify the sound. Such a cool collaborative release i-voidhangerrecords.bandcamp.com/album/from-t...

Recently my dad got irrationally angry with me when I explained that Dune probably wouldn't be in my top 10 sci-fi books and demanded I listed anything better. For context it was the first non fiction book he had read in the last 20 years

It was this time last year that I was wholly distracted from pressing project deadlines by making this ragtag troupe. Currently resisting the pull to add new recruites...

I'd forgotten about that bit in Sabbat (UK) - Do Dark Horses Dream of Nightmares? where Andy Sneap makes his guitar sound like a horse. One of the sillier musical choices on an overwise very serious album, it's at about 3:18 in the song
