Had a go at the thing My first choice scramz (Ànteros - Cuerpos Celestes) wasn't available (shame!) so defaulted to Envy. Both records sent me down the screamo rabbit hole

Can confirm this rules. Ripping German black metal with very intense drumming throughout but still plenty of space and atmosphere (The Vendetta Formula). Powerful female vocal performance. Riff of the Year candidate in the middle of the final track. Very, very cool

The new vinyl from The Ocean is here. Really impressed with how this album begins. All my apprehension instantly fell away. Just superior post-metal from Robin Staps and co, as should be expected #nowspinning #metalsky

#nowspinning Snuff - Demmamussabebonk 🇬🇧 (1996) I first became aware of this band from the ‘96 Fat Wreck comp Survival of the Fattest. 30 years later it’s one of the few FWC records I return to often. Amazing trombones, Hammond organs and a singing drummer on timeless punk rock songs

#nowspinning Firtan - Ethos 🇩🇪 (2024) Revisiting this banger before the new album drops in a couple weeks. This band just keeps getting better. Heavier and more grandiose with each release. Super pretty vinyl too #metalsky

#nowspinning Verwoed - The Mother 🇳🇱 (2024) One of the best and most interesting of recently released Dutch black metal records, which have a strong tendency to be rather peculiar and a little off kilter. This one straddles that line between beautiful and unsettling so wonderfully #metalsky

New dissodeath from Altarage 🇪🇸 was heavy but didn't land for me. Boötes Void 🇩🇪 is meloblack, Skuggor 🇦🇺 🇸🇪 is kinda Burzum-y but not, afaik, sketch, Baikal 🇫🇷 (2025) is crushing post-metal, Kaikkivaltias 🇫🇮 is lofi castle metal AOTW is Gros Enfant Mort - Le Sang Des Pierres 🇫🇷 (skramz) #metalsky

I missed that there was a new album from the excellent Russian black metal band Elegý a couple weeks back. Their 2024 offering 'Graveflowers' was one of my sleeper hits of that year. This one is WAY different. It's HEAVY and SLUDGY and MEAN. It's also really good. NYP blackelegy.bandcamp.com/album/-
