Yesterday’s layoffs at Bethesda Games Studios were not a cut of “14 layers of management”. We lost dozens of programmers, artists, designers and testers. Many of whom worked at BGS for decades.

If Bethesda fans are worried this will harm the quality of our future games, like TES VI, let Microsoft know!

I think forgoing a rigid turn system is also a miss. TTRPGs are a social game, and its REALLY easy for them to be dominated by the most engaged players. A rigid turn system helps the least engaged players still get their moments, and limits the most eager players from dominating the table.

Daggerheart's tactics only go as far as turn ending if you roll poorly - there are so few tactics that trying to cover up any of them with narrative handwaving means you have nothing left. Just fluff. Can't sand off the rough corner of the daggerheart tactics if it ONLY has a single corner to start

The thing that sticks out to me is that when a tactics-heavy system has shortcomings, the GM is there to smooth it over, to shortcut, to handwave. If the tactics are getting in the way of the game/story, they can be ditched, or conversely the GM can gift tactical awards for good storytelling moments
