I’m heartbroken by two horrific attacks in the last 24 hours. From a Chanukah celebration in Sydney to a college campus at Brown, we have seen two spaces that should be safe shattered by violence. And while those attacks took place many miles from Raleigh, I also know pain is felt here too. [1/3]

Quick update on HB 958, the bad elections bill we’ve been watching closely here in NC. Thanks to public advocacy, we’ve seen improvements. The provision banning election officials from encouraging voting is gone. The number of political hires at the State Board is cut from 25 to 5. [1/6]

Yesterday was disappointing, as Republicans passed HB636, which is a process to ban books in public schools. Everyone agrees we shouldn't have obscene books in school libraries, but librarians already handle that. Instead, this bill will cause political book removals, lawsuits, and wasted $. #ncpol
