Didn't have much of a wait for the Titchwell Spotted Crake on Friday evening. It didn't show quite as well as the extremely obliging one back home in Worcestershire though. #Norfolkbirding

An amazing find in Perthshire- an adult Robin repeatedly feeding a recently-fledged Dipper! Interspecific feeding is recorded from time-to-time, but it's rare and a phenomenal thing to witness first-hand. Huge thanks to James Clements for reporting it. #BirdingScotland

Birding Trimpley res can sometimes feel like hard work so I was chuffed to find this 2nd cy Med gull this morning. Flew out within a few minutes of me first seeing it and I wonder just how much is missed there especially while the lower res is mostly mud. #worcsbirds

There's a lot of mud at Trimpley res (small one) at the moment so must be the best chance of a decent wader in ages. This juvenile Shelduck was the only new bird today, fingers crossed though. #worcsbirds

Quite slow going at Puxton on the #WestMidsAllDayer just 57 species so far. Hopefully can get to at least 60 when I go out later.

I forgot to post this at the time, presumed leucistic Canadaa Goose in fields from the end of Oldingtom Lane, Kidderminster on 3rd Jan. Apologies for quality but it was a long way and almost dark. I'd be interested to hear others thoughts on it. #worcsbirds #birds

Here's the answer to the Jackdaw count. 1684, I didn't count some of the fainter smudges and some of the blobs may have had more overlapping birds than I counted so probably a few more. #worcsbirds

There's a big Jackdaw roost in the wet woodland at the Northern edge of Puxton Marsh. I'm slowly counting these from the picture but if anyone wants a stab at it feel free. I'll post the count when I've finished. #worcsbirds #birds

Amendment 40 to the Planning and Infrastructure Bill has been voted down. Had it passed, it would have meant more precious wildlife would have retained existing protections. Instead, MPs have bought into the false 'nature vs growth' narrative.

I'm thinking about buying a thermal imager but can't justify the high end models. Does anyone have any recommendations from the bottom end of the market? It will mostly be used to look for Jack Snipe, Woodcock and the like. #BirdingGear

Today the Hobby kits have been learning about crows- no protection on hand from the adults as the female is long departed and the male doesn't do child minding except for feeding... happy ending as the grabbed bird got rescued in fine style by its siblings. #UKbirding

Excellent day at Slimbridge yesterday,15 wader species, the pick of which was the Temminck's Stint. My first for a couple of years, it was unfortunately too far away for me to get a photo. Almost as interesting though was this very odd looking Jackdaw. #glosbirds

If you plot the sun’s position at the same time every day for a year it makes a figure of eight pattern called an analemma.
