Another benefit of cleaning up aging and inactive oil and gas infrastructure. The people and communities living nearby don't have to breathe in harmful gases like methane. Longer cleanup delays means more people exposed to toxic gases.

This lawyer breaks down why the so-called guardrails Carney includes in this bill just create a cog in a machine built to deny workers their right to strike. Then ministers, in deciding what the “national interest” is in quashing a strike, can consider the “impact on the Canadian economy.”
